dissapointing night for hurst table is far from up to scratch but sparky is trying his hardest and you cant fault that an unusual way to get break from usc 100/50 break so 200 every time. but thats the way it goes well done usc and all the best for the rest of the season

Zeds 5 Watermill A 0
MrMike007 4060, Geoff Rose 1570 Alan Downs 6070, Kim Stenning 1660 tommo 4360, Chris Nikolaj 2000 SuperG 5770 John Staplehurst 3200 Barry T 3400 Norman Cragg 1730
Watermill put in a brave effort, and games 3 and 4 could easily have gone to them. Some lovely shots were picked out by their players, but the Zeds love their home table and were able to maintain a certain fluency.
Watermill gracious in defeat and we did a guard of honour for them. Expecting a torrid time in the return. ;)

Watermill 'B' 2 - Eight Bells 3
Gavin Boyd 610 - Doug* 4280
Neither player wanted to keep a score for the first half, but then Doug had an attack of concentration and made two decent breaks to win the game.
Gavin Offord* 2730 - Nick 5060
Gavin battled bravely, but Nick was always in control of this game. Both players managed more than their fair share of flukes - the game was frequently punctuated by the word "sorry". ;)
Martin Rangé 2350 - Denise 1350*
The balls just did not want to drop for Denise and, with some awkward balls on the table, Martin scored steadily to take the third. (Will somebody please tell Martin that I made the effort to put an accent in his name for him! 8-))
Mark Ridley 2650* - Ros 4030
Both of us had our chances, but a 1k at the end made it safe for me.
Paul Blackburn 2090 - Tony D* 960
Both players seemed fond of the pegs, but Paul managed to keep a few more scores than Tony.
A great evening with the Bees, who were pleased to take away their 3 points. Thanks to Landlord Gavin for the lovely pasta bake.
And by the way Dave - in spite of you cleverly hedging your bets, you don't get tipster points for either Gavin! ;D

BREWERS BRAVOS:1 PLOUGH PG:4
Paul:2420 Chase:3430 Chase extended to a 3k lead before Paul made a comeback but broke down on 2k. Chase gratefully finished off. Bravo:10850 Jan:2300 After a small pre-christmas slump, Bravo returned to form. He opened up with 2k but Jan had soon drawn level. The skip then took control with a good 7k break and then a little bit more just before the bar went to make the match even. Lynne:2370 Dave:3280 Dave was off at about 1k4 and Lynne fought back really well with just under a 2k break. It was then neck-and-neck at the back until dave made a game winning 700 just before the bar went. Nikki:1490 Darren:3280 Nikki left both short and Darren made a hard working 1k7 break in reply. It was as well he did as it was back board all the way for the remainder, with the scoring about equal. Spud:50 BB Warrior:19520 What to say? We have usually had close matches for whatever reason but Dave showed his class last night with an awesome performance. A 9k5 and touch up opener left me no chance and he was back on his next visit to play the table out for a similar score as his first visit. Bit of a blow-out for me of course but a sincere congratulations to Dave for his new PB, well played.
Despite the score-line there were still 3 close games on the night and the Plough were good company as ever. Cheers for a good evening.

Commiserations to Spud. At least you have now acquired my unwanted mantle of having had BBW's personal best scored against you. Now there's only H and Steve Mariner to go. ;) It's a sort of back-handed compliment, the good players obviously realise how 'dangerous' we are and thus do their best to keep us off the table. ;D

Funny you should mention this Tommo as it seems we are playing the Fish next week and have a glorious oppurtunity to run smack into the H-bomb! I haven't missed drawing him yet...

;D This completes the week's writeups: woolpack v brewers The Brewers Arms share the top of division 1 following their away win at the Woolpack. Woollies started well with Malc Fuller taking the opener from Trevor Greenyer. It was then one way traffic as The Arms took control. Richard Jeffrey levelled things with a win over Nigel Bransby and Dilly moved the score along when beating Lyn Storr. The Farmer had a close encounter with Jan Hinkins but pulled through to take the match, and the last point went to Derek Taylor who defeated Anne Stockinger.
