What you might class a close call...........
Greyhound 2 Mill House Z 3
Ted Stringer 1850 tommo 1910 Geoff Fairs 4830, SuperG 1900 Paul Goodwin 1550 MrMike007 3180 TIR 7020 Alan Downs 1870 Peter Burchell 870, Barry T 3080
All games went with the break, but does not really tell the tale of the match, as the away team all struggled with the break.......
Frame 1.tommo stole the first one from Ted, potting the last two whites down the same 30 pocket to win by that margin. F2.Geoff played superbly but had one anxious moment when he (and we!) thought he had played too hard and potted 'em four times, but the ball stayed up, teetering on the precipice! (Congrats to Graham btw on the birth of his first grandchild 8-)) F3.MrMike had his own ideas of how to play the break, and eventually settled for one-up and pot. F4.TIR very comfortable on the top, allowed himself the luxury of losing a further break of 2.5k F5.Barry found the break but off at 450. Peter got his nose in front and then Barry got a fine 2k break. Peter looked as if he was not to be denied, but tragically took a peg out while trying to make an in-off 100 shot, leaving Barry in a comfortable position.
No reason why the Greyhound shouldn't pick up in the second half, judging by this performance: Zeds very lucky to escape with unbeaten record intact. :o

LAUGHING FISH:3 BREWERS BRAVOS:2
H:7140 Nikki:800 The short straw decreed that Nikki was over the top and into heavy fire first. To be fair much of the game was spent at the back but some quickfire breaks ensured H was not denied.
Jim:3530 Lynne:1060 An early 1.5k break was enough to secure this one against an unlucky Lynne, who could have been a lot closer bar a couple of cruel pegs.
Les:1080 Bravo:3210 Bravo never really got going but scrapped hard against an unlucky Les, who pegged a couple of crucial scores.
Andy:1800 Paul:1380 The frame was close throughout but Paul looked like he had it but pegged what was likely to be the winning break. A grateful Andy did enough to secure it after that.
Ray:2120 Spud:3070 Funny old game. Spent what felt like 10 minutes compiling an opening 1k and Ray soom brought it level. After that it was a back board battle where the balls fell in all sorts of wierd positions.
Very enjoyable evening with the Laughing Fish with, as usual, an excellent spread of food. Looking foward to the return match immensly.
Cheers all

Thetwo missing match reports, courtesy of the Old Fella:
Watermill A 5 Woolpack 0 The A Team were at home against the Woollies and made up for last week’s drubbing. Big Norm hit an opening 6K to defeat Nigel Bransby, and Kim Stenning matched his score when disposing of Malc Fuller. Geoff Rose played well to overwhelm Lyn Storr to claim the game and a much closer game saw John Staplehurst win against Jan Hinkins. Another close game in the final leg saw a win for Chris Nikolaj over Anne Stockinger.
Horns Lodge 4, Plough L/B 1 The Horns Lodge enjoyed a rare home win, this one over Plough LB which gave them a lift up the table. Chris Farrow started proceedings with a win over Kieran Budd and Kevin Stevens won a captains’ match against Mark Webber. Geoff Winson won a close leg against Geoff Parsons to take the match but a sturdy performance from Steve Whyte took out Nick Pitcher to give Plough at least a point. Steve Budd was denied by Dave Tiffin in the last in getting Plough another point.
