Horns Lodge 3 v Mill House Z 2 :o :o :o :o :o shock of the night millhouse start second half losing wow but well done the lodge Yes the curse of the Mill House struck again (remember we did that in the Horsham League as well after going through the card!) The Horns were Lodged well and truly up the jacksies of the Zeds but in a cordial atmosphere.......... Kevin Stevens 1180, Barry Timson 1310 Roger Dudman 1140, tommo 4230 Geoff Winson 4690, Graham Daniels 2930 Dave Tiffin 2780, Mick Holmwood 1490 Chris Farrow 4580, Alan Downs 2030 Horns Lodge 3, Mill House Z 2No complaints, the Lodge players played really well, and pulled the match round after being 2 nil down. Geoff's game was particularly impressive, Mick just couldn't clear the table for the break shot, and Chris Farrow's experience told in the last. Some of the best food yet: some very nice pizzas (I counted three types of peppers, sweetcorn and olives in one) and 'fluffy' roast potatoes, nice and hot. 8-)

Food at the Lodge is always good. Mike and Linda to thank for that!
St Francis 1 - 4 Laughing Fish
Roger Wallbank 1140 - 1460 Ray Carpenter Chris Little 2080 - 1390 Andy Brooks Shaun Morris 2650 - 11600 H Mat Geal 1390 - 4070 Jim Ashford Bob Ellis 1290 - 1380 Les Whiteman
Screw the critics, I thought the table was lovely! Bit uphill mind you leading to a few unexpected pegs - the old man deserved to win his game, but lost a couple of crucial breaks thanks to the aforementioned! I went for a 10k and touch against Shaun to be sure! Jim played excellently in game four (losing a break of 1.7k on top of the rest, once against thanks to the uphill nature of the table), and Les finished the fifth game off with a fantastic 30-30-50 three ball pot to be sure of the win.
Thanks to St Francis for a good night, nice spread of sarnies, and a lovely table - shame more people dont think so!

Eight Bells 2 Plough PG 3
Tony D 820 - Jan Bithell* 1870
Jan had a super break going, but at 3k she went for a fine cut in front of the 50 pocket - and cut it too fine :o Then the game got rather scrappy, but an unfortunate black peg from Tony allowed Jan to pull ahead.
Doug 1450* - Darren Newnham 5240
Doug left his first split short and a grateful Darren quickly cleared for a break of just under 2k. After that, absolutely nothing worked for Doug and Darren scored several breaks of around 1k.
Ros 2470 - Chase Newman* 1520
Chase was another Plough player who lost his opener. Play went to the back of the table for a while, with the table loaded, until I got my head down to clear - managing to keep concentration through a fire alarm (thankfully false!) for a 1.7k break. Chase had no luck after that and a ball he put close to the baulk limited the scores in the last part of the game.
Nick* 10870 - Dave Knight 1980
Nick made a lovely opening break - touching on at 10,110 8-)
Denise 1160 - Ron Sheridan* 4930
Ron started off gently with about 1k, but the balls were just not running for Denise, which allowed Ron to keep coming back for more.
Sociable evening with quite a few laughs and some good banter.
Thanks to the Bells for a tasty chilli and rice. Looking forward to Linda's hospitality at the Fish next week :)

BREWERS BRAVOS:2 BREWERS ARMS:3
Carole:700 Jock:5260 Paul was working on the night so his sister was drafted in and was immediatly up against it as Mr. Jeffrey opened up with a solid 4k. The back end of the table proved trickier, however, and no more big scores were recorded. Bravo:9130 Derek:4800 Bravo opened up with a lovely 7k5 and a not so lovely touch-up (very close to the black peg) to set Derek the tallest of orders. Derek fought back well though but a victory remained out of reach. Lynne:700 Dilly:4480 Lynnes run of form was ended at the hands of Dilly whose couple of little breaks ensured his side retook the lead. Nikki:1570 Trevor:2340 A really good dogfight in the fourth but Trevor always had his nose in front and was, crucially, at the table when the bar dropped to ensure victory for the Arms. Spud:3960 Andy:1580 Andy had a game he would probably like to forget as he really was on the receiving end of some of the most abysmal luck. An early 2k5 break from myself turned out to be enough.
A kind of subdued night for the billiards in the Brewers derby and another close 3-2 defeat for the Bravos. Ah well, never mind, for "After all, tomorrow is another day". (Points on offer for anyone who can tell me how badly i have just misquoted Gone with the Wind).
Cheers all

Frankly my Spud, I don't give a dam. Nice one, Mad Dog ;D Spud was accurate tho'............... "I'll go home, and I'll think of some way to get him back! After all, tomorrow is another day!" The camera close-up of her tear-stained face slowly dissolves into an earlier shot, a long view of Scarlett standing alone under the gnarled tree with Tara in the background - a heroic silhouette not admitting defeat.

report from roy Plough LB are still a long way adrift at the bottom of the premier, despite an away win at the Woolpack. Mark Webber took frame 1 from Lyn Storr and a cracking game between Geoff Parsons and Malc Fuller saw the Plough man prevail. Steve Whyte did plenty to take frame 3 and the match from Nigel Bransby before Anne Stockinger grabbed Woollies only point, beating Kieran Budd in the fourth leg. Brother Steve made up for that though, taking the final game from Jan Hinkins.
