We're Back! Thursday 13th January We're delighted to announce that bar billiards is back up and running in Hastings. As a starting point we have decided to run a friendly league between the four remaining team in the town. The league will run between January and May with an emphasis on getting back on the baize and having some fun. Many thanks to Ian Hicks who has set up the fixtures and the rest of the Jenny Lind B team for getting the league off the ground.
Week Two Results Thursday 20th January The Jenny Lind derby was saved by our friends from Eastbourne, the game was nearly a three game match due to Covid but the ex Nags Head B team stepped in to ensure a five game match, unfortunately for the A team even their new signings they couldn't stop a 5-0 win for the home team. Steve Astley, Ian Hicks, Jez Horsler and Alec Pope won the first four games for the Jenny Lind B before Colin Southouse scored the highest score of the night (8,000) to ensure a 5-0 win. The Ashburnham Arms completed the double over the Old King John with another 3-2 win. The home side took a 3-0 lead with wins from Dave White, Mick Osborne (7,590) and Sandy Harmer. Andy Ellison and Chris Lamb won the final two games of the night for the visitors to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.

Lewes & District Bar Billiards League Minutes
Monday 6th Oct 2020 at the Plough
1. The meeting was opened at 8.00pm 2. Those present were Colin Southouse, Liz Lancaster, Huw Lincoln, Chase Newman, Ric Bithell, Trevor Rees, Kev Stoner 3. Apologies for absence were received from Roger Munn 4. Minutes of previous meeting The minutes were not presented 5. Matters arising none 6. Chairmans report By Chase Newman Chase was disappointed that COVID had stopped bar billiards in its tracks and sadly there appears to be little chance of resumption in the near future. 7. Treasurers report, Roger was unable to attend but had declared to the committee his wish to resign as treasurer, the committee wish to thank him for his service to LBBL over the years, Ric Bithel offered to take over as acting treasurer as he was already an approved signatory. A vote was taken and was unanimously accepted by the committee 8. Secretarys report by Colin Southouse Nothing to report, however he will not be available to play in league matches for the foreseeable future, a new secretary will need to be voted in at the next AGM. 9. Fixtures Secretary report by Ric Bithell Nothing to report, there was a discussion on possible ways and formats that the league may be able to restart, including 3 player teams, restarting by finishing the old season where we stopped this year, however we will have to wait a see how the future unfolds, no decisions were made 10. Competition Secretary’s report By Liz Lancaster The draws for the competitions had been made before COVID lockdown, these matches could be carried on at some time in the future. 11. Interleague report by Chase Newman
SCBBA has declared Lewes interleague div 3 champions 12. Any Other business Ric Bithell reported on our RBS account, which is due to be closed down in the near future, RBS is required by government regulations to close some of their accounts and transfer them to other banks, in our case there are 2 possible banks that can take on the LBBL account, Metro bank and the co-op, there is a possibility that LBBL may receive a transfer bonus of up to £1250 from RBS, as there is a fast reducing funding amount set aside to complete this transfer operation, so it was essential to complete the transfer asap or possibly lose this transfer bonus. Following discussion the committee voted and unanimously agreed the make arrangements for the transfer with Metro bank, Ric will lead and resolve asap. 13. AGM The LBBL AGM will be held 16th Nov 2020 at 8.00pm via Zoom Meet, Liz will forward details in due course Meeting close at 9.00pm
complied by C Southouse LDBBL Secretary 06/10/20

Sadly, i think each venue will have different guidelines on distancing depending on its floor plan with bigger venues having a more relaxed distancing regime, currently having 10 people in an enclosed space with a high proportion over 70 still seems a bridge too far leagues. But the goalposts are changing regularly, probably some comps could take place but i expect plenty of the more senior members will not be available
