Maybe if Stan Kroenke was guilty of money laundering they might invite Alisher Usmanov onto the board. which would be great for the Arsenal as he is only worth $19.6 billion Quite a modest amount indeed, its ludicrous in this day and age that he isnt actually in the board with that money! Any other club would give their right arm for that money on the board!! Not the "Arsenal way" old chaps. The board is still a bit like the old boys club. It may be nice to have Usmanov's money but you need a manager who would actually want to spend it, time and again we have been a couple of good signings away from having a top quality squad, but because of his reluctance to spend (or he would say "there is no-on who could improve our squad) we have fallen away at the death. The constant mismanagement just goes on, and the board are happy because the club make £50m profit every year and "wins the fourth place trophy" If we fail to win the FA cup this year, I am convinced that we will win nothing until Wenger is gone, roll on that day.

No quadruple for Citeh .... goes to show that greed never pays ! Beginning to look like it's Arsenal's cup to lose now ! Never happy when were favourites.... the press will be "gunning" for us all the way waiting for the "usual collapse".

Standard width SAMs from Crediton, Devon: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Bar-Billiards-Table-/271411800991A good purchase for someone IMHO ! An interesting piece of history can be seen on the diamond part of the timing mechanism: Mention of C & I Osmond - a hitherto unknown "supplier of league tables" - presumably for the now-defunct Pewsey Vale league - based in Wilton, Wilts. Will keep an eye on this one, not to far from me

Bring on the second leg. As the first 15 minutes we looked like a team ready to beat Bayern We can dream, but this tie is over! i would rather concentrate on the FA cup & Prem. Starting with our strongest available team on Saturday. That means "resting" Ozil, and starting with Rosicky, Ox, Cazorla and Wilshire in midfield and Giroud up front. Got to get max points as we still have to play Chelski and Citeh.

Sanogo starts up front, has Monsieur lost his mind or is it potential tactical genius?! Sanogo is obviously a talented lad and he played well enough v Liverpool in the cup, but he is very inexperienced at this level and is a bit lacking in match sharpness.
Word in the ground last night was that Giroud had fallen out with Wenger, after lying, over his dalliances with the ladies and was being punished by sitting on the bench.
After Ozil's woefull penalty attempt last night, I felt heads went down. then losing Gibbs to injury and Chezney being sent off it only left one sub available. If we'd had 11 players and Giroud on the pitch I think we could have given Bayern a real test but it was all over after the sending off. Lets hope Giroud and Wenger kiss and make up before Sunderland on Saturday. "Up the Gunners" Brian

Was that you, Joiner ? It finished up bordering on 'silly money' but 29 bids from 12 separate bidders shows that quite a few people saw its potential. No Tommo I missed the end anyway as I was driving up to London for the Arsenal game. But had an inkling it might go for "silly" money, as you suggested I would have gone to £200 ish. There seem to be quite a few good Riley's with all the transfers intact going for around £4-500 so not much margin in this one.

The timer with the round plunger looks typical of early Rileys. It would be best to retain an original feature such as that so long as it is still functional: part of the charm. You may find that it takes old sixpences, the first table I ever played on had "easydrop" pockets (with four bars to stop the balls spinning round the holes) and took threepenny bits ! The Rileys of Accrington signature is also a good feature, and a careful paint touch-up could reap dividends. tommo Thanks for getting back, sorry I've been out all day. Quite a bit of interest in this one (12 bids) Will give it a miss if it gets silly, I'm a bit concerned that the timer handle is stuck out.

Thanks Tommo
Will have to see how it goes. Are the timers vastly different from the Brevette ones, I have a couple of spares, that I could cannibalise.
The description says the slate looks perfect.
A good clean up, polish, new cushions, and recover will work wonders, simples

The Gunners performance today was appalling. I can only blame the manager again for failing to bring in new blood in January. this is the first time in seven years that we have been in a position to push on and perhaps even win something. but the stubborn Wenger still insists " this is a strong squad" full of "great mental strength" when anyone who watches regularly can see the frailties. It was crying out for a couple of good signings to bring new blood and bolster a few position, even if a world class striker was not available. But once again Wenger is not prepared to meet a players valuation, and again offered a few mill less than the asking price. i don't think we will win a major trophy until Wenger is gone. meanwhile my season ticket goes up by another 3 percent. Bring on the Mancs, Liverpool (again) and Bayern Munich

Anyway why dont you make it a little tougher and play one leg in Cornwall (it would have to be one LEG because we only have one PLAYER) You could always stop off in Somerset, only trouble is we don't even have one player

Pre-war Jelkes from Shepperton, Middx: Vendor probably doesn't realise what he is selling here, as categorically states table cannot be moved on its side: the round Jelkes legs should unscrew for ease of transport ! From the sound of it one of the legs may have a damaged thread, probably due to it being dragged about when it was installed the last time. Re-listed 24/01/14: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-bar-billiards-table-/251432744729According to the seller the legs do not unscrew. So probably glued in. "The slate appears undamaged"
Maybe not worth the bid price if the legs have to be cut off and all threads reworked.

Thanks Chris I will have one set please. Can you confirm total price with postage to TA21 9LD, and I will get a cheque to you post haste .
Going back to the Sketch up program, I have had it on my computer at home and and work for 3 years without any problems at all. It was created by Google and then changed to Trimble about a year or so ago. The free program is the "light" version of the professional version that runs at about £300. But I have found it perfectly adequate for my work, especially for drawing staircases, customers appreciate being able to see exactly how they will look and can virtually walk up the stairs before we have even cut a bit of wood.

Hi,
Yes I have spare cloth, same price.
No I had not looked any further on the 3D as I've been repairing storm damage and digging up the drive to repair a broken sewer pipe, lovely job turd strangling! Just several trees to dispose of now. I need to research the software as I do not download freebies onto my PC unless I am absolutely certain they are safe. I have an A3 printer but electronic preferred for future use. Somewhere on here are the plans I did. I mean to reorg that section.
Chris
You have probably heard of the angry sewage worker------Always getting the wrong end of the stick ..... I'll get me coat!!!

Hi Sav Do you still have any of the cloth sets available. I have nearly completed the restoration of my old Jelkes and that cloth would be a real treat.
PS I havn't forgotten the table drawings, I am just resizing them to print on our plan printer, I will post a copy to you as soon as I can. did you have any more luck with the sketchup drawing? I think you will need to download the free program.

My opinion is that if teams are not going to take any of the cups seriously and play a full team, they they should pull out! Only teams who really want to win it should enter. Feel so sorry for the fans who have paid a lot of money to go and watch a reserve/youth team play! maybe it is time to let teams enter "B" teams like they do in Spain ? Citeh would probably win it then, with the strength of their squad. I am no fan of fat Sam, but he had his eyes on more important (to him) things, and he did inform the board of what he proposed to do. But as someone who travels 350 miles to watch my team, I do feel for their fans who had to suffer that. One of the reasons I don't go to many League cup games. (not on my season ticket anyway )

You have to download SketchUp first Chris, I've just been playing with it..... spooky How are you getting on with it Bernie, have you tried going down the 100 hole and out the ball tray?? Sad I know but I had to try it .
Just realised I forgot the table lock and the stay to hold the top up. Will add those when I get a minute.
Chris, I wonder if you have just downloaded "Sketchup viewer" and that is why it wont explode.

Had a look at the table image and the legs image but cannot see how you 'explode' the table image.
Would appreciate the drawings as I do not have a Facebook account.
Thx
Sav Hi Chris right click on drawing, click explode, that will separate the table into groups. Click the move tool (red cross with arrow heads) hover over table and when the group you want to move goes blue click on a corner and drag it, if you drag it straight up (blue axis), while still holding the mouse button down, type in 1000 and this will move it 1metre - useful for putting it back together. If you want to undo anything you have done- just click on edit and you can undo all your last moves.
If you have time to kill, there are plenty of tutorials for sketchup on youtube, which is how I got started. But be warned it is very addictive. Good luck Brian PS I would like to pick your brains regarding drilling slates etc, if that's ok.

I think Giroud needs a rest, he is always willing and is a great physical asset as he holds the ball up well and gives others good service, but he is looking increasingly knackered at the end of 90 minutes.
As Bigphil says we were looking at Benzema, but we are not really short of midfielders.
In defence, I agree the Verminator is now fit but he needs games to get sharp again. Jenkinson worries me as he gets caught out far to often by good wingers. Mertasacker is playing well at the moment as he reads the game so well, but his slow turning is always going to be a problem when he loses the ball, so we could do with a bit of back up here.
But we are all just glad to be at the top again Petrified%but looking slyly over our shoulders. At least its in our hands now.

I have uploaded my 3D drawing of a Jelkes table onto Trimble Sketchup, its in the 3D warehouse, just search Bar Billiards and it is the only one on there in my collection. This is a exact scale drawing of my table and you can "explode" it to look at the timer and bar set up, the ball runs, layout of the holes and peg spots (all as AEBBA rules)
I also have 2D cad drawings that I will forward as DWG files or PDF if anyone is interested.
I am still collating photos of the new table I am building, to put on this thread, but in the meanwhile I have some in an album on my facebook page, if anyone is interested please send me a friend request with bar billiards in the message.

Well there was a lot of talk of Benzema for a discounted price and monsieur has his sites set on Diego Costa (only costs £35m mind you!) I wonder when people will start saying that 'Arsenal can win the league!' Its still fashionable among the so called pundits to say we will fade away, and we have not done anything in the last eight seasons to prove them wrong. So lets let the results do the talking and "enjoy" the ride. I only hope we don't get the "Podolski will be like a now signing now he's fit" from Ms Wenger.
Fingers crossed that the trains are running so I can get to town on New Years Day.
Happy new year all Brian
