As most of you know I have been collecting the results over the past year and have continued the rankings system laid down by its founder Peter Farrelly. I am happy to continue this role but I do think the system needs updating. I believe that the current system is a very good basis in which to start but it propably need tweaking. However I do not want to have overall control to make changes, I would like that to be shared by a 'mini' committee of around 5 or 6 people. I am looking to recruit members for this commitee. I know some people have no interest in rankings at all and thats fine, but i also know some people do take a great interest in them and have varying opinions on how they should work. If you are interested in having a say as to how the ranking system should now move forward, into next year and beyond, please let me know by PM or email that you are interested in being part of the commitee. I will then choose a commitee and we will go forard from there. At the moment it is not an offical AEBBA matter but we may be able to make it officially an AEBBA system in the future but I think we need to get this in place first. So let me know if you are interested, for info the current system is on the AEBBA website follow ths link Open www.aebba.org/a_rankrule.shtmlLadies www.aebba.org/a_rankruleL.shtml

Thanks Sparky, I hope the lads will agree that we have made some significant progress - I will be contacting them shortly with some proposed changes.
Then we can announce the final changes before the first ranking event (the Oxon Open) in February so we all know where we stand.

Wearing my Board Director's and AEBBA Webmaster's hats
Has anyone talked to AEBBA on the final solution please?
The previous system was 'semi' official and published on the official AEBBA site. The source having always been the National Tournament Director, an AEBBA exec officer.
That situation has changed at the last AEBBA AGM with the resignation of Nige as the Tournament Director.
Dave Alder as AEBBA Secretary is hoping to fill that void (God help him!!).
The dislike of this forum by various senior AEBBA figures is well documented. I as webmaster will be unable to include anything on the AEBBA site unless it is officially sanctioned by AEBBA. The tinkering with the national rankings by this forum is not likely to be seen favourably by several past and present AEBBA officers, unless AEBBA is involved and in agreement.
Has this been considered please?
Sav.

This is a bit tricky Sav,
As I resigned as TD at the end of the year I am no longer part of that commitee so cannot personally endorse the rankings as "semi official" by the AEBBA.
When Pete F stopped doing the rankings, initially if they were to continue I had to carry on doing the calculations and was able to put them o the AEBBA website as i was on the AEBBA commitee. The reason for forming the sub commitee was to have collective input to make any changes rather than leaving the onus on one person.
The next step is to get the new system endorsed by the AEBBA which can only really happen at the AGM at the end of the year - this would make the rankings official, something that I think should happen. I guess proir to that we would have to get the existing AEBBA commitee to consent to the rankings that I calculate being put on the AEBBA website. Although some may not be happy with changes that are made I would like to think that they would prefer this to there being nothing at all on the website rankingswise. We do also have Mark Trafford on both commitees which should help this be ok.
Sav, I will sort someting out before I send anything out to you to be put on the AEBBA website

Thanks Nige,
You have my enormous admiration if you are going to attempt to continue compiling the rankings.
