Hello Friends ,
The Chestnut Tree House Hospice - 10K Coastal Run
Alison and I are putting on our running shoes, and are competing in the Littlehampton 10K Coastal Run in aid of the Chestnut Tree House Hospice, near Arundel, West Sussex.
At the bottom of the page you can read a little more about the hospice and what it provides for families and especially children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses. Alternatively you can click on this link to see what they are all about. www.chestnut-tree-house.org.uk/default.asp?id=1
Alison and I are far from seasoned runners, and therefore this will be a huge challenge for us to complete the 10K course, but this is nothing compared to what these children are suffering from. Those of you who know me well, will know that the only time I run is to a free drink!!
We know that this is a difficult time financially, but we would be really grateful if you could see to sponsor us even the smallest amount to reach our own personal goal of £500. Sponsorship or donating is really easy. All you need to do is click onto this link and follow the on-screen instructions. www.justgiving.com/chris-and-alison/
The race takes place on the seafront in Littlehampton on September 13th.
Thank you for taken the time to read this, and we look forward to sending you all great news at the end of the race with the total amount raised for this great cause.
Many thanks
Chris and Ali
Chestnut Tree House is the only children's hospice in Sussex and cares for children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses from all over the county.
Completed in 2003, the hospice provides a 'home from home' environment with 10 children's bedrooms plus 8 family rooms, a wet and dry play area, computer and music rooms, a multi sensory room and hydrotherapy pool. The house is set in beautiful gardens within an area of outstanding natural beauty. There are potentially 400 families with life-limited children in Sussex. Chestnut Tree House offers support for the whole family including psychological support, care in bereavement therapy, end of life and respite care and sibling support.
The hospice costs approximately £2 million per year to run. Families are not charged for their care and the hospice receives very little government funding so it relies almost entirely on the generosity, help and support of the people of Sussex.
