Peggy's favoured charity (the above) are staging a 5-mile sponsored walk at Wicksteed Park in Kettering on Sunday March 16th and I have been "volunteered" to take part, as is Carolyn and a few more of my family members. Any small or large donation would be extremely appreciated. Just let me know how much to put down for you (privately or publicly) and I will see you in due course. You can do it by the circuit (about 1 mile each) or just give a total amount in case I need the oxygen.
They are aiming to make about £60,000 I think. Thank you in anticipation

I heartily thank all those who have replied publicly and privately. If there are any more who wish to do so, please could you provide a house no and postcode as this has to be entered on the form, presumably to allow the organisers to claim Gift Aid.
Thank you again.

And he snuffs all the candles out in his house when it's a full moon. ;D

Peter,
The very best of luck for next Sunday, and I hope that you manage to raise a great deal more money for your charity, that is so obviously close to your heart, and that of Peggy.
Good luck old friend

Hey, not so much of the "old".....
After Bournemouth, I am up to about £420 (not counting the pennies) and that takes the total sponsorship for my family up to around £750.
If no-one has any objection, I will list the names of all my bar billiards sponsors on here at a later date so, if you want your name to appear, you know what you must do.
Seriously, you all know that cancer touches everyone’s family sooner or later, and Crazy Hats certainly supports the cause. Any donation therefore helps in the battle towards a cancer-free society, which is hopefully no more than a few years away.
There may be a couple of clues here as to what colour my crazy hat is likely to be.
It was bought in Iceland, (no not the supermarket) and it is made from that stuff that comes from sheep, (no not lamb or dung).

Good luck on Sunday Pete, and a wonderful gesture in putting up the prize for the ladies at Bournemouth and Jersey. Hope the feet are hardened ready and that the weather improves before Sunday. TJ.

I have just received a message offering to donate the £60 back into the charity. I am dumbfounded as that was never the intention, but very pleased to receive it which takes my total sponsorship so far to over £500. Thanks a million Jean!!!! What a woman!!!!

Here's the man himself in a rare moment of relaxation. He does look quite chilled out in his crazy hat don't you think ? Worthy of not only a Pink award (sort of) - but a Kipling award also ? ;D Still a few days left if you wish to sponsor this worthy cause: send him a PM with the amount pledged.

Well! Can anyone get a very large umbrella-ella-ella to Wicksteed Park by 10 am?
The amount raised looks like closing at around £560, so with Carolyn and her kids' efforts and an unexpected collection of around £60 by Peggy's Mum at her sheltered accommodation block added, it is well over £1,050.
Thank you to all those who have made a contribution. I will not let anyone down, but does anyone know if that model train is still running round the park?

Once again Pete good luck and hope the weather improves before the off. My thoughts will be with you and with all those who have been touched by the big C, hope with your wonderful sponsorship amount that the total raised today will be large and think f all the good it can do.

Well I made it through the rain and now home. Just before I have a very L O N G soak in the bath, I will again thank everyone for their support. Yes it was a bit wet but there were well over 2,000 walkers taking part. (Un?)fortunately, due to parts of the park being flooded, the organisers had shortened the circuits somewhat, but, after two shorter circuits we realised that many were still doing the full distance through the bogs. So we joined them and it was MUCH more fun (?). Carolyn had a new car this week so we had to sit on towels on the way home and have a change of shoes available before we could get in it.
It was funny to speak to the Colemanators' mum outside the register room but she did not recognise the prat in the hat. For those who can picture me in their mind, the hat had a very large comb stitched into the crest. I wore sunglasses "just in case", a "Maid of the Mist" poncho, a Peg attached to the hat (to cryptically signify who we were doing it all for), and I was proudly the only one taking part with poo on my tie.
Oh no, not poo. With Pooh Bear on my tie, I mean.

Hi Pete,
Glad you 'made it through the rain'
Hopefully you're relaxing now with a nice long soak in a bubble bath.
Well done, Peggy would be proud of you, and sounds like you had some fun along the way. 8-)
tommo.

Well, once all outstanding sponsorship is collected at the Portsmouth Open this weekend, (Martin L., Jean B., Dave M., Clive T. and Dave A.,) the total from my efforts and that of Carolyn and the two kids (Paige and Josh) will amount to around £1,100, I think.
Once again, I would like to thank all for your support, and anyone else wishing to bolster the total can, of course, do so anytime soon.
But, just as I was feeling more positive after being told that my high blood pressure is under control, I have now found out that my older brother has between 6 - 12 months to live with throat, liver and lung cancer.
Owen (aka Tom) may be remembered in some parts as he did play bar billiards for a few years in the 1970s after coming out of the army.
Good luck Bruv!

Thanks for the reminder, I'll make sure I've got it with me on Sunday. Your latest piece of news is a bombshell almost too cruel for words for someone who has been through what you have in the last year. Families are so precious.
