Dear all
Don't forget the Inter Area One Day competitions will be at COWLEY CONSERVATIVE CLUB on Sunday 19th February 2012. The address is 19 Between Towns Road, OXFORD, OX4 3LX and I'll post parking arrangements etc at a later date.
We need lots of entries for the Ladies ProPlumb 5-a-side competition and the Under 22 championships so if you can canvass your leagues now and let me know ASAP although we can usually accept entries for the U22 on the day. You have to be under 22 on the day of the competition as far as I see! ???
cheers Tony

Dear all (especially Secretaries and captains!)
Can we have some entries for the Inter Area Under 22 tournament 2012 please? This will be held on the same day as the men's sevens and the ladies fives at Cowley Conservative club. As far as I can see entrants have to be under 22 on the day of the tournament?
Entries so far;
Stephen Coleman (Northants) Phil McFarland (Wallingford) Lewis Stratford (Oxford) Craig Mace (Oxford) Adam Ingram (Oxford)
cheers Tony

Us young'uns don't get enough chance to play each other! I know you managed to take part in the National Under-25s last year, Enzo, but I am surprised to see there's not an Under-25s competition for Sussex. Perhaps there should be one.

Dear all
Thanks to all who attended the annual Inter-Area One day event yesterday at Cowley Conservative Club. I think everyone agreed that the venue was a perfect size for this event but the bar and food could be improved somewhat. Thanks for all the feedback...
The day went very well and the winners were;
The Norrey Lambert Trophy for Open 7-a-sides
Winners Wallingford Runners-up Reading
Both qualified from very close groups but Wallingford took the title by 4-2 after just six games
Highest break went to Phil Collins with 10,300 (the accent is never on high breaks in this competition)
The ProPlumb Trophy for Ladies 5-a-side
Winners Reading Runners-up Oxford
Reading came through the group with only two points separating the top three. It was good to see some of the old faces (in the nicest possible way) in the Reading team :D
Highest break was by Pauline Withey with 6710
The Ray Sturgess Trophy for under 22s
Winner Craig Mace of Oxford Runner-up Phil MacFarland of Wallingford
We have run this competition for a few years now and this new trophy fills a gaping space for the Inter Area. It was kindly donated by Chrissie Newson and on her request, was named after a great teacher and encourager of young BB players. Craig played consistently well throughout the day and richly deserved his victory. Phil showed great improvement and took some good scalps on the day.
Highest break was by Craig Mace with 4310
The day was a great success thanks to all who helped. Inter-Area fellow officers Jenny Parsons and Terry Alder for their huge amount of work, to Dave Alder for the tables and for his great help in rearranging the U22 schedule, to Dave Tooke for setting up the tables, to Pete E and the Oxon Association for allowing us to 'piggy-back' their tables, to Pete and Marianne for selling so many raffle tickets, to the captains and players for being so organised and helping me keep well within schedule (this is the only tournament where we are not scraping about for chalkers) and to Samantha of the Cowley Tory Club for her hospitality (and for keeping a certain element of the crowd entertained throughout the day ;D even if she didn't know it)
Full report and photos in the next IABBA Newsletter.
I'm having a 'peaceful' day today ;)
regards Tony
PS I hope those who got locked in the multi-story car park got out and home OK! :-/
