I have been doing a full breakdown of 2006 performances in the eight Grand Prix events so far (i.e. including the two Ladies-only events, but excluding Plates) and thought that a few of the stats could warrant an interesting quiz for bar billiards connoisseurs.
Could give Nigel a bit of an advantage with the answers, or anyone else with all this year's BBQs at hand and a lot of time to study them. Most answers may have to be guesses, and Clive will wish me to be kind and award points for close guesses.
And it is my BNTE day....
1. How many people have entered at least one of the Grand Prix events this year, but failed to win a game?
2. How many people have entered MORE than one GP event this year and STILL failed to win a game?
3. Which two people have entered most GP events this year WITHOUT winning a game?
4. How many people have only won one match in GP events this year?
5. How many people have only won two matches in GP events this year?
6. Who has ONE Grand Prix point despite not winning any match in her FOUR Grand Prix events this year?
7. Who has won most GP games this year, WITHOUT getting a Grand Prix point?
8. Which FIVE players have played in exactly four GP events this year and only recorded ONE win? (5 pts available)
If anyone, even Nigel, can get all 12 points, they are as sad as me?
It is BNTE day!

7. The dubious honour, with 5 wins each, but a cupboard bare of GP points, is shared between: Richard Plaw of Surrey (2 Mermaid; 2 Sussex; 1 Kent) and Phil Collins of Oxon (2 Sussex; 2 Kent; 1 Berks).

Do you not have anything better to do on a Sunday afternoon, Clive? Three and a half hours working these out when you could have been watching England get thrashed by a rampant All Blacks team.
And not even all correct.....
3. Correct: Dave Tallack 6, Mary Daniels 5 6. Correct: Jenny Abbott 7. Half-point docked as Richard Plaw did not win a game in Kent (only a walkover). Correct answer therefore: Phil Collins 5, with Richard not far behind on 4 8. Two points only so far: Alan Messer and Glenn Chubb correct, but Colin Robbins (according to my stats) has entered FIVE events
But, as I am almost enjoying being nice to everybody, I will keep it going and award you an extra mark for getting both answers for No.3.
Points: TOMMO 5.5 (appeals considered, and then overruled)
You really ought to have saved this quiz till you got to work today, to give you something interesting to do.

Thanks v.much for the points, no appeal necessary.
I shared my afternoon between sifting through the last three BBQ's plus setting the Da Vinci Code quiz questions. As you can see from what I posted on that thread, the latter was more stressing :
There you go, hope answering them causes as much pain to you as setting them has caused to me. (I've been all afternoon on the case.)
The alternative was watching numerous back-to-back episodes of Poirot - all repeats anyway.
I think I've exhausted my knowledge on this one - any more answers would be pure guesswork, so easy points for Nigel there if he can turn up his spreadsheet.

1. is close enough (I made it 95) 2. is correct, 20 4. is close, but NOT close enough 5. is close, but NOT close enough 8. is totally correct
So, 5 points to Nigel, and just 4 & 5 to work on

Well OK, feeling generous, I will award 2 "close enough" points to Nigel as his answers to No.4 and No.5 add up to 89, which is what I make it too.
4. I make it 66 including FIVE players who have gained one GP point from winning just one match during the Opens this year: Jason Byng (when Bernie McC could not get off work to play in the Berks Open) and four ladies in the ladies-only Opens.
5. I make it 23 including EIGHT players who gained a GP point by doing so, including Bernie McC and Mark James.
I know Clive wants to close this off now, so there you go.
Apologies to anyone who sat up late last night, with their BBQs, working out the answers.

It was just to keep you off my back in Jersey, I will have enough to cope with, looking after (or being looked after by) my three carers.
