Berinsfield Social Club 2. V Gladiator Club 'B' 3.
We observed a one minute silence before the game in memory of Tony Harvey.
1. Chris Plant 1200 lost to Grant Johnson 4250 :) Grant got a 3110 break in this game which won it for him. 2. Graig Mace 520 lost to Reg Johnson 4370 :) Poor Craig he never played a bad shot but the balls were just not going for him and Reg top scored for our side. 3. Geff Mace 13660 beat Neil Cunliffe 590 :( Neil broke down and Geff never gave him another chance. 4. Tony Broadway 4580 beat Phil Clark 1260 :( Shock horror Phil just couldn't get the break back and was punished by Tony for not doing so. 5. John Boal 280 lost to Richard (Dick) Stowe 2290 :) Why do my team do this to me, two all and me to play. After a couple of goes I finally manage to find the break, which won me the game even after losing a 1.3k break towards the end being greedy.
Grant break 3110.
Good result for us and a good start to the winter season. ;D

Kennington v Masons B match cancelled.....Masons can't raise a team??? The Webbs were on a fishing trip this week and Ernie was on holiday. Chris the landlord and several of the other players said they knew that they wouldn't have team this week. They did say that they rang the Kennington club and spoke to someone last week not sure when.

Not wanting to call them mistaken, but..... can you ask them what number they phoned as the Club changed phone numbers 3 or 4 weeks ago, so if they phoned the number on the fixture sheet, they would not have got through :o ??? :-X

Gladiators A 4 - Headington cons 1
Lots to say about this one.....
where to start..um..hope this doesnt get me in toruble with the admins !
First issue is - how were the Glads A graded into section 2 when they finished 2nd thats right Runners UP in section 1 last year ????????????
Second issue - Mr Gordon knows my complaints and its in his hands
Now the match
Sorry don't know their names
Glad 1 W - L Tim Glad 2 W - L Sid Malcolm W - L Graham (hope i got that right) Mrs X (wife of number 2) W - L Dave Glad 5 L - W Beefy
Some high scores from the glads opening pair put Tim and Sid out of reach fairly early on. Graham had a chance for most of the game before his opponent pulled away. Dave had a great shout of a point right till the end but alas it wasn't to be. I scored my highest Oxford League score with over 7K with 2 breaks one just under 2K (opening) and then another under 4K later one the rest was small contributions.

I've also noticed that not one team that WON their division got promoted up a division, even though the Marlborough Club won their's by a massive 12 pts and Glad's B by 10pts. :o ::)

Welcome to the new season plenty of moans already.
May I remind captains that if their match is cancelled for some reason please inform the Secretary and I WILL make sure the opposing team knows about it in good time.
I like the comment from a non member ;D
