Steve Ahier set a new record for the highest Island break last night at the Africa House.
Africa were playing Division III leaders, Star & Tipsy Toad 'A', and after missing the his first break shot Ahier's opponent was forced to sit out the rest of the match as Steve compiled an immaculate 20,170 break and total, using the higher scoring English style of "Oxford" or "Split" shot.
This is certainly a new Jersey Island record but may well also be the first time anyone has scored over 20,000 in a competitive match in the Island?
Someone told me KT had 20 in his BIOC Final match with Tony Walsh, but that was before my time.
Sorry for the blood red text, for those that have trouble reading it, but I really don't feel happy using any other colour :P
But I have made it bigger, if that helps ;D

That is a great break/score Steve, especially as the clocks only run about 17 min's in Jersey. I must admit that table is very easy to play our way, because the spots are closer together than normal so you can leave the red ball in the perfect position for the split.
Kevin T's break against Tony W was 17,400.
His biggest was this year in the World Championships when he scored 19,850 in the 3rd Rd.
Keith.

Do I take it that the Ice Mans highest ever score of 23,660 was done in practice or maybe it was done over here on our tables.!!!

I take it Milko is Keith Sheard?
I don't know where James got 23k, but I do know it wasn't in a competitive match in Jersey, unless I slept through that week, which is possible if you saw the state of me on Sunday ::)
You'll have to ask him that.

I can confirm that my 23k break was done in practice about 3 years ago on a table that runs for just over 15mins! I have come close in practice to beating it but in Jersey you don't need to play the split to win with a big score so tend not to play it in competitive matches. ;D

I didn't know Steve Ahier played the split shot, 20k is a massive score given how long your clocks run over there.
James if you start scoring that quick in the World Champs, especially when it is best of 2, you would be hard to beat!

I didn't know Steve Ahier played the split shot,! Well I started playing it last season at the Africa, and he's copied me!
The Africa table runs just under 17 minutes, so it was a good break, but there's still time to beat it this season 8-)
