Not sure if this type of thing has already been posted but...
I thought it might be interesting to collect together a list of alternate rules games from around the leagues. We all know "Off The Spot" and "Red Ball First", but I have come across a few other variants so I thought perhaps we could have a thread about it if it doesn't already exist buried in the archives somewhere.
Here's my contribution - Bar Snooker.
At my original local, The Fairfield at Emsworth (West Sussex League) we played a game for any number of players which had additional coloured balls - Blue and Black.
The white pegs were placed in front of the 50 holes, the red on it's spot, the blue on the left peg spot and the black on the right.
The aim was to strike the balls, where available, in the following order - White, red, white, blue, white, black, white, red, etc. Any ball could be potted as long as the ball "On" was struck first. When red, blue or black were potted they were returned to their spots, which made potting the red a bad idea as it was in the way for the rest of the cycle. The blue counted triple, and the black quadruple, which made last ball games pretty common!
I've never seen this game anywhere else, but I seem to remember the pub having a matched set of balls for this which makes me think it might not have been a one off.
Has anyone else heard of this, or do you have any weird fun games that we could all use when the night is drawing to a close and skill has been replaced by stupor?
