Paul Still got 2 bottles of the St Emilion for next time you come to dinner. Tommo 2009 Hardy's Merlot - nice - good for cooking. Just going to open a barolo, yummi Recently purchased a bottle of Barons de Rothschild Lafite Réserve Spéciale which I MIGHT save for next time you come (or I might drink it with a nice bit of steak at the weekend!!). :D

Anything wet and red.
I do agree with Gandalf about Chateau Neuf Du Pape. Especially when someone else pays for it.

........and I agree with Gandalf too on the Koppaberg Pear Cider. And the zero alcohol version is a lot cheaper and just as tasty.

Just now enjoying a couple of glasses of Garganega Pinot Grigio, after wrestling for ages to get the cork out. Sod's law that once in a while this is going to happen (considering we've been indulging for 30+ years !). I have a sturdy corkscrew and usually - for a stubborn one -, holding bottle between knees and tugging/twisting with a cloth round the corkscrew handle does the trick. But this time no. This one was an absolute b*gger..... So what's the correct technique ? Asked Jeeves on t'Internet and he suggested : a) hammering 5 nails in the cork and lifting with claw end one-by-one. Wouldn't budge. b) holding it upside down and whacking it with a shoe. No dice. Determined not to be beaten, a flash of inspiration led me to try TWO corkscrews in side by side......Eureka ! However, tommo's left arm is now heavily strapped after pulling a muscle.
