The cock feeling a bit sore after a good seeing to from the black horse
4-1 to the horse
Ben v Jan - ben loosing his opening break of 1380 then jan pegging a,similar score to leave it to a slow scoring game from me. Jan playing a good solid top table for the win Bob v Roger - Roger had the lead throughout the game but it could have gone either way 2-0 horse Jan v Dave Knight - Dave played a good game with two breaks of near on 3k 3-0 horse
Huw v Ric - Ric pegged an opening break, both played well the game was in huw's sights but leaving the red next to the 200 pocket gave ric the game 4-0 Lex v Richard - didn't see much of this, game as too busy scoffing the chicken curry...bit what I did see lex played a solid and consistent game to take the win and save the cock some dignity.
Thanks for a great evening at the horse, and some good curry!
Time to get some cream to sooth our pain!

Star Eastbourne 3 Laughing Fish 2
We made the long trek over to Eastbourne, so long that we started to feel like the 3 Wise Men, although one of us went to the other "Star" (the one that's called the Hurst Arms, that shut last night) and then headed back home as nobody was there..... ::) ..... so maybe 3 "Wise" Men not so appropriate.... :o ;D ;D
Managed to find the venue, then had the fun of trying to find a parking space somewhere in the vicinity of the pub.... ::) ....easier said than done that, but we got there just in time to start the match... ;)
Bob Osbourne 2,110 - 890* Ron Sheridan Ron caught out by the pace of the table on his opening break shot and left both balls just short of the holes, Bob built up a useful lead and with the balls in the middle of the table at the back neither player was able to get the break back.
Gary Sweeney 1,940* - 3,630 Dave Ingram Gary also missed both balls on his opening break by hitting them too thick, he was first to get the break back but missed again shortly afterwards. I managed to build up a lead by simply keeping the scores that I made, but then knocked the Black Peg over when trying the play a ball up the middle of the table.... Gary got the break back straight away, missed again and fortunately I got the break back a couple of times and made sure of the win.
Peter Payne 1,710 - 160* Colleen Park Colleen totally mishit her opening break shot and never got into the match at all.... Peter played a steady game with some good shots to always stay out of reach.
Phil Osbourne 870* - 3,760 Bill Kerr Phil was the first player of the evening to pot a ball on the opening break.... the red, but the white ball came inside the 50 and he was off shortly afterwards. Bill played a very steady game that included a nice 2k break to level the match.
Stewart Chant 1,650 - 1,480* Tony Jenner Tony, having made his way back to the pub after getting 2/3 of the way home again, arrived just in time for the food and his game.... the match ebbed and flowed with both players taking turns to have the lead before Tony got the break back, got up to just under 2k on the cue with the bar imminent and tried to touch up at the back of the table only to pot one ball and leave the other one near the 10 hole and lose the break, he got the break back next visit, the bar dropped and trapped the red ball and he couldn't quite catch Stewart up after that. :'(
An interesting evening, think it's probably fair to say that the table was challenging but very playable once you worked out some of the quirks on it.... nice to see a busy pub on a Monday evening with more drinkers than players and some interesting "characters" who I would imagine that the Landlord does very well out of during the course of an evening.... ::)

Obviously not much to talk about in that game then..... ::) ;D Here is the latest table.... Pos Team Played Won Draw Lost For Against Points
1 Star Eastbourne 6 4 0 2 19 11 19 2 Bridge 6 4 0 2 18 12 18 3 Laughing Fish 6 3 0 3 18 12 18 4 Black Horse 6 4 0 2 16 14 16 5 Plough Plumpton 6 2 0 4 13 17 13 6 Cock Inn 6 3 0 3 12 18 12 7= Brewers Arms 6 2 0 4 12 18 12 7= CKRBL 6 2 0 4 12 18 12
With the last game in the first "half" of the Competition, a brief reminder of what will happen when we resume in a few weeks time.... The competition will be decided on the results of 10 matches - one point per game won, as in the league competition. For the first segment of the competition, teams will play each of the other teams, either home or away (7 games). When this segment is complete, the top 4 in the table will play each other (3 games); and similarly with the bottom 4. These games will be at the reverse venue, as compared with the earlier meeting.

With the Star going top of the League, Gandalf obviously got a bit excited and thought that they had already won NEXT week as well as this week..... ::) Hi Lewes Cup fans Result card The Star v the Fish played at The Star EastbourneBob Osbourne 2110 V 890 Ron Sheridan Gary Sweeney 1940 V 3630 Dave Ingram Peter Payne 1710 V 160 Colleen Park Phil Osbourne 870 V 3760 Bill Kerr Stewart Chant 1650 V 1480 Tony Jenner The Star Win 3-2Popped in at the last minute to see the decider which was going Tj's way until a last minute break was lost and Stew finished off in the 100. Well done The Star, usually play better when i'm not there...Robbo will probably find a good reason for it though. ;D Apart from getting the week wrong.... :P ....and saying that Stewart potted the last ball into the 100 hole when it was actually TJ who potted it in the 200 hole.... ::) :P ....it was a lovely report Colin. ;D ;D ;D

PLOUGH:1 BREWERS ARMS:4
Mr Walkover:Notmuch Lynne:Lots and Lots Trevor:1040 Ros:3050 Trevor pegged early and Ros was straight in to punish the mistake. Mick:840 Jason:1170 The dapper young man kept his 100% record in off the spot with a very good knock-down-and-drag frame against an unlucky Mick. Darren:2640 Spud:390 Apprently Darrens oppent had never played a game of Billards in his life. At least one skip played well... Chase? Andy? Whoops! Suddenly realised I never took down these scores for some reason. I know Andy put a 3k break on for a good win. Will have to get Darren to help out here otherwise it could prove tricky posting the official results on the website.
Very good evening, very good table, and excellent company. Shame the plough had only 4 but there you go. Thamks to the Plough for being superb hosts.

The League Chairman (Richard Todd) had an interesting theory last night at the Committee Meeting as to why you thought you were at the right venue (Star Inn) when you arrived at the wrong venue (Hurst Arms) which sadly closed on Sunday.... :'( With the Hurst Arms not being open, possibly the lights on the sign on the pub were not working properly and therefore perhaps you only saw..... HUR ST ARMS....!! Obviously our team had a few other (less flattering) theories on Monday night, but we all greatly appreciated the fact that you came all the way back over to play the match having got most of the way home after being unable to reach any of us due to poor signals on our phones inside the Star.... it certainly gave us an exciting end to the evening. 8-)
