Just back from 7hrs at hospital with Mum so gave Billiards a miss tonight.
Then the phone goes (8.50pm) from Simon ........ Masons cancelled their game tonight at having only three players >:( I rang the Masons and spoke to Alan Lowe and he said Andy Webb left a message on Simons phone at 8.20pm. Simon is not a happy and the food was arranged too.
Not good enough.
Comrades 5 v Masons B 0

Vikings 'B' V Galdiator Club 'B'
1. Sean Stratford 6450 beat Reg Johnson 2890 :( Sean played a good game to beat Reg who had his chances. 2. Nikki Stratford 1060 lost to Grant Johnson 3050 :) Grant was in control of this game, Nikki lost a few scores on the white peg. 3. Nikki Stratford 1350 lost to Neil Cunliffe 1520 :) Neil was lucky to win this game, both players struggled at the top end of the table. 4. Mick Stratford 1090 lost to Phil Clark 1990 :) Both Phil and Mick struggled on a difficult table, but Phil got there on top end crawl. 5. Alan Bremner 350 lost to Jenny Webb 1290 :) Both players struggled to come to grips with an awkward table for top end players.
Vikings 'B' 1 Gladiator Club 4 (I remembered.)
This was a good match played in a good atmosphere, with good friends.

Democrats 1 v Vikings A 4
Eddie Tebby 3,550 v Ian Moss 2,720 (4 player rule) Richard Garrett 500 v Mick Jones 7,120 Terry Green 350 v Alan Lacey 8,780 Billy Hill 3,280 v Alan Oliver 6,000 John Patey 450 v Ian Moss 5,600
We thought we were in trouble at 2-1 up with Billy & John having the last 2 breaks but fortunately for me Billy didn't perform as well as he did last week. John was very unfortunate to lose a 6k+ break when looking in complete control of the game but to Ian's credit he still had to win the game and finished with a 5k break.
A good, friendly evening with lovely food.....

Masons 'A' 1 Kennington S.Club 4 Matin Wood | 4,010 | v | 8,650 | Steven Sheard | Alan Lowe | 3,050 | v | 4,230 | Pauline Withey | Dave Rose | 4,480 | v | 2,170 | Pauline Withey | Alan Lowe | 5,080 | v | 6,480 | Kevin Godfrey | Mick Murphy | 370 | v | 9,320 | Ian Gordon |
Both teams had to use the four player rule this week, both mine and Alan's second games came out as the four player rule which meant neither of us had the break in these games. Mark was unable to play tonight as he is struggling with a very painful shoulder and has had to stand down from playing any games this week. :'( Hope you get better soon Mark ;) Alan and Kevin's game was very tight with Alan almost catching Kevin's score only to come off and leave Kevin to finish the game off and win the point. Well done to Ian opening up with an 8,590 break after one or two scary moments leaving Mick unable to do anything about it. Good evening had by all. :) Edited by milko as Auntie got herself in a "mucking fuddle" ;D

I hope 5. 0 to comrades is a joke cant award match like that Alan, If you go by the "letter of the law" then you are correct as they contacted the opposition but I can see why the Secretary gave the points to the home team because 8.25 is very late to cancel a match in my opinion. I'm sure it will be brought up at your next committee meeting. Match rule 11 Thursday will be the recognised day for league matches. If for any reason a team cannot play on this day they must notify their opponents as soon as possible before the match and arrange another evening suitable to both teams. The match must be played within 14 days of the original fixture. If no communication is received from either team it will be taken for granted that the match will be played on Thursday, any defaulting team will lose all the points.

Top of the agenda at the meeting on Tues 24th. Quote from the card.. What a wasted night-no contact will not be replaying under any circumstances. Take note committee

Take note committee I feel sorry for the Comrades but you can’t have teams refusing to play when a rule hasn’t been broken. Remember this is the 2nd time this season that Masons B have phoned up on the night to cancel the match because they also cancelled at 7.45 on the night against Kennington but they didn’t refuse to play the re-arranged match ! PETE THAT IS VERY UNFAIR TO TRY TO PUT PRESSURE ON COMMITTEE TO DECIDE HOW TO VOTE.I WAS THERE WHEN THE B TEAM WERE WAITING FOR THE TWO MISSING PLAYERS TO TURN UP. IF YOU AWARD POINTS TO COMRADES IM QUITE SURE OTHER TEAMS IN SECTION WILL HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY. I ALSO KNOW MASONS B WANT TO TRY TO ARRANGE MATCH.
