Blue Ship v Southwater SC The roving reporter was out and about again tonight, and took this pre-match photo at the Blue Ship: From left: Keith Newman, Tony Temple, Melvyn Blake, Tony Franks, Ray Manser (all SWSC) To the right: Ding Johnson, Steve Holden, James Childs, Mick Johnson, Colin Cathie (all Blue Ship) An entertaining match with some huge laffs and some trick shots from Mick. Southwater were 3-0 up when I left. Excellent display (8k) from Tony Franks in the first. [edit - match finished 0-5 according to the landlord]

Dun Horse BFZ Stout House Z 5
Scott Hope 1820 Vernon Sparkes 9240 Colin Bolton 2630 Denise Wills 5830 Dave Simmons 3320 Richard Plaw 7030 Stuart Hope 1870 John Miller 3620 Grant Hope 2700 Rick Langridge 4450
Game 1: Vern led from the start with a 3k, followed later with a 6k. Scott unable to get going. Game 2: Close game early on, with Diesel and Colin trading the lead. Midway, Diesel got going for a 3k9 to take the game. Game 3: Very similar to Game 2. RP opened with 1k+, Dave pulled back, then RP stepped up a gear with a steady 5k to take the game. Game 4: Junkie, on the table he loves to lose on, broke off with 50! ::) Both players struggled to get much going. Junkie managed to pull far enough ahead of Stuart to clinch the win. Game 5: Three 1k+ breaks and some nasty leaves from Rick put the pressure on Grant. When he did get going, he was too short on time.
Oh dear, not our night tonight! :-/ Usual fun with the Zeds. ;D

SHOCK RESULT OF THE WEEK!!!!!
Sam 2480 - 2730 Lee (Sam chased Lee all the way in this one but came up just Short...) Adam 5670 - 920 Pete.F ;) (Pete struggled & Adam kept scoring throughout) Tony 3980 - 2540 Twiggy ;) (Tonys 2k late on put this to bed, Twigs had no luck) Pete 3910 - 1830 Glyn ;) (Cagey start by both then Pete had a super 3k to seal it) James 1410 - 8790 Dick (A controlled masterclass showed his team how it should be done)
Stout House A 3 - 2 Roffey
The usual laffs, abuse & 'costly' falling timber by both teams made a great night!!! -Tongue in cheek- Can we play you every week...???...???

Springbok SC 0 Blue Ship (Crown) 5
M. Miles 1400 D. Sands 1920
A close game throughout, and nice to have Malcolm back after a two month break. Dave did enough to keep his nose in front to take the game.
G. Marshall 1460 P. Barnett 2150
A tighter game than the scoreline show, with Gary losing a couple of grand along the way. Barney held his nerve and used his experience to claim the game.
T. Goacher 1960 H. Fowler 2410
Hugh started with a decent 1K, with Trevor doing little with his first visit. Hugh let Trevor back to the table early without adding and Trevor put a 1K break together to level the game. Nip and tuck after this with Hugh clearing up the balls to win.
G. Jarrett 1950 C. Barrow 2220
A close game throughout with Graham playing his best game of the season. Graham had his nose in front at the late stage but Sparrow stepped it up at the crucial time to spoil the party :-[
B. Hicks 1150 J. Thayre 2820
John hit a couple of 1K breaks to push ahead, Bill struggled on the straight shots, but anything of the angle was a breeze ;D. John's experience showed on what was a difficult table.
A good night, a low scoring account as the split is a bit quirky.
Cheers to the Crown lads for advice.
One thing, we don't want the Dun Horse taking the BFZ crown from us, so sort it lads ;)

I forgot to mention, Denise's 3900 break and 5830 total are I believe the Ladies highest to date for Billingshurst. 8-)
