Unfortunately, this has happened before with the Wellie, all venues get sent a card for the match, what they do with them i don`t know. Perhaps with future cup games, one of the captains could make an inquiry to the pub and make sure they know (if they want food that is). Pizzas at the Atlas were lovely last night ;D ;)

Blimey Dave you don't have much luck do you - Olde House one week Romans the next ;D It could have been worse Paul, I understand in the match played at the Olde House... Swan A 2 Cellar Bar 3 .... that there was only one break of more than 1k in the entire match.... :o :-X I don't believe that my comments (about either table) were either unjustified or a case of "sour grapes"..... I won my game at the Olde House with top score (5k) for my team which also won the match, at the Romans last night the Black Peg I had was on the last ball to try to win my game and I was the first to say that my opponent (Chris Oakley) had fully deserved his win as he had generally played the table there better than I had last night. 8-) But I do strongly believe that Teams and Players should have the "right" to expect to be able to play "conventional shots" (break, one up, straight pots etc) on any Away or Neutral table and, assuming that they play the shot well, expect to be rewarded by potting a ball in the hole(s) that they are aiming at.... without having to resort to playing reverse break, hitting the balls very hard to overcome the roll or putting an undue amount of side on to the ball to try to pot them..... the old saying "it's the same for both teams" doesn't cut much ice with me, it simply means that the game has changed from requiring skill to luck. :P

Dave,
Neil went in yesterday lunchtime to check the table out and said that it was fine.
I think you were there early the previous week when we explained that before your match we got to the pub at about 7.40 and found the table with the back right leg wound down. It was a job to get it into any fit state before the match.
However mine (7000+) and your (5000+) scores showed that it could be played - although I accept that the break got more difficult as the evening went on and the pub warmed up (why does that happen?). I tried the break again at the end and it was a lot trickier. The table was however reasonably true - we rolled balls down to check - I have seen worse rolls on other tops this year.
Overall this season the table has been much better. For instance Ian Lelliott broke off with 11000 against me the previous home game.

Atlas B v Romans @ the Swan
Good friendly tie at the Swan, 4-1 to the Atlas.
Only downside to the evening Edge missed out on his sandwiches because no-one (allegedly) at the pub knew we were due to play. I wouldn't normally mention it - but the Swan do provide an exceedingly good sarnie!

Cellar Bar 3 Swan A 2 Unfortunately Swan A only had 4 players. Wins for Sandra and myself. As we were without Lorraine I bought Jean in who then got drawn out for the void game. We all found the table very tricky but would thank the Old House for lovely sandwiches and cheesy chips yum yum
