Sally Mortimer wants to sell her billiards table. She lives in Tunbridge and can be contacted for further info by e-mail on sally.mortimer2@btinternet.com. Sally writes, Jelkes Bar Billiard Table for sale, restored by Tarrot Tables Ltd, so in exellent condition. It was bought from someone who lived in Reigate and they were told that the table used to be in the Surrey league, but they didnt know any more than that. Included are 3 new cues, a score board, a brush to clean the table with, new balls and a whole box of chalk. Any reasonable offer will be considered, though we do have a figure in mind.

I may be stating the obvious here, but wouldn't an ideal situation be for the Redhill League to buy the table from Sally ?

I don't think that comment represents the general view of the Committee, Richard, although that may well be the bare facts of the situation at present.
The League will before too long have paid off the last of the Bonds, and any money coming in thereafter would be sheer profit: The understanding was that it would then look towards building up its stock of tables.
Good Jelkes tables are becoming rarer to find by the year and this seems too good an opportunity to be missed.
Sally might even be willing to sell it to the League but hold on to it in a spare room at her place until a new venue comes up. :-/
