Played at the Limes, Sunday 5th July. Mens County Championships - still ongoing as we speak.............. The final started at around 11 o'clock last night :o :o Winner - Gary PowellRunner Up - Kevin HallGary ran the table out setting me a target of approximately 14,500. I broke down on Two breaks of 3k before Gary got the balls back adding another 2k before touching up which is where I decided i was finally beat and conceded. Well played Gary 8-) Also well done to Denise for the lifting the ladies title and Lorraine for the Runners Up spot. |

Well, we missed a good Final from the sound of it. (Had to go as completely knackered and going on holiday the next day. ::))
Congrats to Kev for making the Final from a strong line-up (a full transcript will be supplied as soon as received from Jason).
Well done to Gary - what an awesome season he's had, virtually a clean sweep of all Redhill honours - and the coveted 'double' of Redhill and County singles.
I would like at this stage to mention new teenage star Aaron Hill: In the last year he's burst on to the scene and basically has played in the Redhill one day competitions as well as the Surrey Open. He is taking part in the Summer League but has yet to play his first 'proper' league match. :o
And yet last night he played in the County Singles as a 'wildcard' entry and registered scores of 3k and 5.5k against Cliff Wayland - sufficient to qualify him for the Final stages ! A stylish left-hander, he reminds me of a younger version of Geoff Jukes.
Anyway, yet another enjoyable day, and well played to ALL the ladies - and especially to Margo who registered a 'first' by playing in both competitions as she too received a wildcard entry - quoting the organiser "many thanks to Margo for playing having beaten Clive at the Sussex Open".
Thanks to mein hosts Jason and Trisha, and to Colin Robbins once more for some tasty fare.
Nearly forgot - highlight of the day was a magnificent 20k from DC on the Limes' own table in an early round.
