The first Redhill one-day event on the calendar will be staged at the new venue St Nicholas School, Merstham on Saturday 23rd January 2010 (11.30am for 12 noon start) hopefully with a 24 Pairs line-up. (£5 a Pair, gentlemen are expected to pay)1 player in each combo must be a player registered with the RDBBL. Maximum break is 3k throughout, all Ladies to break off first. Usually a great competition. Main and 'Plate' also. Hot food will be available all afternoon. It is anticipated that the competition will be followed by the customary (bi-annual) England v Surrey 'International' Challenge. What a fantastic day...... 8-)
As Tommo pointed out, it was the first time that Colleen and I have played in this event and we both found that the format and restricted breaks gave us lots of close, competitive games all played in the wonderful spirit of people who were there to enjoy themselves...... and the game itself. ;D
Our thanks to all of the organisers for all of their hard work, especially Dave & Caroline Jones on the Admin Desk, Terry & Sue Oakley for sponsoring the trophies, everybody involved in setting the tables up, Colin & his bar team and the School "Dinner Ladies" who offered a good choice of food including the now legendary Butterscotch Tart! 8-)
Commiserations to Lorraine & Jim, who played superbly all day and gave us a really good close-fought final..... and congratulations to the "Chunky-Monkeys" for winning the Plate Competition. ;)
One final thank you, to my partner Colleen who played superbly all day...... :-* :-*
