Does anyone know what the leatherette used on the front of the playing surface is called please?
The only stuff my local upholsterer has is too stretchy and spongy. It needs to be thin and tightly woven.

Having spent ages researching it unsuccessfully I've just found some stuff called Rexine and that is clanging a very big bell!
Anyone confirm it please?

When I can get hold of it I use Rexine, but most of the time I have to settle for leatherette

Thx for looking Clive,
Bob I think that confirns it's rexine and the good news is there's some on Ebay! Rexine is also used forbookbinding and classic car dashes so it sounds hard wearing.

Can you ask Ken Hussey?

Found the answer on the inside of an old roll of cushion tape I came across that I got from Ken Hussey many years ago. Lionide Salvador 11422 This company appears to sell it by the metre. Sav.

Can confirm that Salvador Lionide 11422 black is the stuff as I've just bought a couple of metres, much better than Rexine.
I haven't costed what a board and front cushion set would cost yet until I see how many sets I can get out of it but would guess around a fiver.
Tates Upholstery Warehouse have an Ebay shop. I bought direct from them, but saved very little, their postage is horribly expensive.

Been in conversation with Whimple who used to use this dashboard leatherette who says that authentic Rexine is not stretchy. It may thus be that the stuff I was sold as Rexine was not. Thus be careful if you buy Rexine to make sure it is non stretch in both directions.
I've been using the Salvador Lionide this morning and it is fine.
