Hello. I'm new so be gentle.
When having a game the other night a question arose.
When you are down to potting the final ball and the mushrooms are in the 50 pockets. What happens if the ball hits one of the sunk mushrooms and then falls in to the 100/200 pocket? Is it a valid shot or a foul, and if so what is the punishment?
Thanks for your time.
All the best,
Spleen.

All the best, Spleen. Hi Spleen ( :D!) A warm welcome to the Forum It is not a valid shot and no score would be credited. Theoretically you should retrieve the ball and allow the other player to try for the last ball, but you really wouldn't bother in a friendly - maybe in a league game if it really mattered you would put another quid in but that's a moot point..... There is no penalty unless the black was knocked over after the peg in the 50 was hit, as that's the only penalty shot that counts when playing the last ball. Rule 26 of our All-England rules says; If only one ball remains, either in the rack or on the table, the break score should be recorded before the last shot is played. The last ball must then be played from the centre of the "D" into either the 100 or the 200 hole OFF ONE SIDE CUSHION. This is known as the ‘Last ball shot.
Before playing the last ball shot the white skittles should be placed in the 50 holes and the top holes guarded. If the ball strikes a skittle in the 50 hole and falls into the 100 or 200 hole the score will not count. Both players should continue to play the last ball shot alternately until the ball is potted or the black peg is knocked down.cheers Tony

Thanks for the swift reply. I'm sure this will cause some discussion. But I have it in black and white pixels now.
Thanks again.
All the best,
Spleen.
