Match re-arranged early on Sunday 16/12/07 games 2 & 4 play reversed White Horse 1 v 4 Brewers Droops
1. Giles Garnet 1380 - 5930 Sparky (Break) Sparky lead of with 3700 odd break on this level but tricky break table.
4. Colin Mansfield (B) 3260 - 1960 Jock Colin played well while Jock just couldn't suss the break out :(
3. Ben Dutson B/P - 4870 Andy Farmer-Wright (B) Andy played his usual solid game and compiling a very good score.
2. Ian Powell (B) 1060 - 1720 'Noddy' Humphreys Not a lot happened for a long time but gradually Colin got in front and sealed it right at the end.
5. Jim Quinn 1720 v 1790 Mama Hall (B) Well what can I say as this went all the way to a last ball shoot out which Lorraine won, fortunately for us as the table seemed to have changed during the evening.
Thanks to Colin Mansfield for leveling, cleaning pockets and generally trying to prepare this pub table for the match. Good company and good sandwiches too.
No pressure on the Hurst Club now ;D ;D ;D

Sportsman 0, Handcross Z 5
Sir Trevor 1880, tommo 3220 Gary Foster 1480, margo 1490 Tony Driver 1130, John Turner 3500 Gary Iles 1860, MrMike007 2080 Ros 2210, Barry Timson 4140
A rather nervous performance from the Zeds when all is said and done: A couple of key members short tonight, we gratefully took whatever luck was going, and all agreed afterwards that the Sportsman has the best table that we have played on so far in the League - though you wouldn't think it from the scores (It was us being too tentative and looking for things that weren't there).
A very pleasant evening in good company and a good spread of food with prawns and seafood and exotic dips and some nice fresh bread (after "Robert the Buffet Slayer" let us get there of course ::) ).
The 'mad cow' mascot was in good voice and everyone in our team got a moo out of it - none more deserved than margo :-* who snatched victory with a fine break of 960 at the end which included sinking the last two balls down the 30 and 20 to win by 10. A consolation go was accepted by the home captain for being a good host and owner of such a fine table. 8-)

Thank you for your kind words tommo, sadly my team (including myself) didn't take whatever luck was going :'( The only one with a valid excuse was Tony Driver, John Turner never gave him a look in!
But it was a great evening with good company and the mascot was wonderful! Many thanks for the privilege of pressing its foot 8-)
Highest score of the night btw was the final friendly where John Turner and Margo relaxed into 5.5K, the other side getting about 2k as well.
Apologies for "Robert the buffet slayer" he's normally "oop North" these days, working in Bolton. However, think yourselves lucky that I was scoring when the food came out, have you not heard the saying "Don't get between Ros and the food"? :o ;D

Windmill 3 Hurst Club 2
Jan Hinkins 1500 Dave Ingram 1370 A black peg when in the lead half-way through the game cost me dearly, with Jan holding her nerve to sink the last 2 balls and win the match. :-(
Anne Stockinger 1100 Kevin Hall 2970 The BB Reaper had to battle hard to build a lead but won comfortably in the end. :-)
Lynne Storr 600 ROY Wells 3560 The Old Fella had to use all of his experience to make & keep the best break of the night (about 2k) to maintain his good run of form. :-)
Mike White 2250 Pete Hall 2080 The best game of the night, although both players struggled with the table, with Mike winning on the final 100 shot. :-(
Steve Smith 2280 Rob Hall 710 A steady game from Steve to secure the match for the home team as Rob struggled. :-(
Well played the Windmill with lots of hot dogs afterwards - but glad that I don't have to play on this table again this year!! :-(

Bravos 2 Greyhound 3
Greyhound out of the relegation zone at last after a hard fought win over the Bravos.
L Moyes-Robb 1810 G Fairs 1520 P Moyes-Robb 1780 P Burchell 3220 R Spurrier 1220 P Goodwin 1640 A Bateup 5920 T Rees 1980 N Hinkins 490 N Burchell 2940
Lynne beat Geoff on the last ball after he narrowly missed sinking the 200. Peter and Paul then proceeded with steady wins. I should have stayed in Spain with Adam playing easily the best of the night with a 4K break in his 5920 score. I just could not clear back to the break until too late. Neil got us the win with an efficent performance in the last game.
Table awkward away from the break with balls whipping out of the pockets but not bad at all.
Food and hospitality up to the normal high standard.

Hurst B 3 Watermill A 2 A good evening at a very cold Hurst Club we all played with our fleeses & jumpers on. Hurst B keep a grip on the top by 1 point with wins for. Dazza iang & Chris Kirkham. Watermill's winners were a surprised Norman Craggin the first against fellow skipper Mr L & John staplehurst who put in a fine performance in the 5th.

Oh, deep joy.......!!! >:( :( :'(
Hopefully I will bring my "beating mama hall" head with me that night, rather than my "knocking black peg over" head....!!
At least that is NEXT year (2008) rather than this year....! ;)

Just to complete the set for the week, here's what the Old Fella had to say about the two games where we have no write-up so far :
CKRBL 2, Plough 3 Plough moved back into second place following a good away at Kleiners with a squad of 4. Des Gasson showed his men the way with a clear win in the first. Derek Taylor however had other ideas with the best score of the match (6250) to even things up. Keith Potter came good with a 5K+ break to put Plough’s nose back in front, backed up by Geoff Parsons in the last for well deserved win. Peter Edwards had the walkover and that point keeps Kleiners in touch with the leaders.
Watermill B 3, St Francis 2 Saints lost ground this week after losing to Watermill Bees at Worlds End. Steve Lathwell took a close first leg to put the Bees in front, the lead was extended as Sabina Williams took a more comfortable second. Skipper Martin Range nailed the match and grabbed the bonus points with a good third leg victory. The last two frames went to the visitors with wins for Matt Geal and Chris Little.
