Updates to League and non-league venues in Mid Sussex

There is a supreme table in the white horse in hurst by AMS table only runs 10 minutes and needs some tic they want to get a team in for next season so will be going in to help them and put spots and d on. Managed to get the break and split easy on it so was nice but I do have some bruised knuckles now ;)

The table has left the whitehorse after ams not supplying a light or a D or spots and didnt want the timer extended from 10 minutes so now a pool table has gone in

Sad, but sometimes you can sense in advance that it's not to be.

The likes of you and I are limited in how much we can get involved: I can remember turning up at the Rose and Crown East Grinstead to add a D as there was a big crater. I had arranged this in advance with the landlord. I was told in no uncertain terms by the operator who was emptying the fruit machines that I was not allowed to touch the table. On my next visit a month later the table had gone.

Spoke to Andy (landlord) and it gets a reasonable amount of play. Wednesdays would be the better night, though, if he were to have a league team.

Andy is very keen to get a team into the League this year. He has the form and has already been trying to round up the names. He will contact Ian this weekend.
Later that evening it was the AGM and I reported the above. The deadline has of course passed, and Ian is anxious to get the fixtures out without further delay so at present there are 11 teams and a Bye. If all goes to plan, then Royal Oak (Handcross) will fill that Bye.

AFW has confirmed that they are interested and I hope that they do manage to get the players to join us. 

Although I have had no reply after my email which had both my phone numbers on which was sent on the 29/7 They could fill the vacant position on the Fixtures list but I need a definite yes by Tuesday 22nd at the very latest as we have our meeting on the 23rd. I am also concerned that they may start and then find it tough going and drop out after a few weeks.

It's a non-standard table (supplied by the pub chain no doubt) but seems to be the 'correct width'.
Playable although the break "needs right hand side". Has mushrooms rather than pins.
Usual problem with tables of this ilk: no proper D, just a semi-circle drawn and a big crater for the cue ball to sit in.

Sadly, the Royal Oak (Handcross) table is no longer there, replaced by a pinball machine.

Sorry, but there is another one that's gone. I haven't been past The Lamb at Piltdown for a while but a search online says it is "permanently closed." I believe the owners filed for insolvency back in May of this year so it doesn't look good.

I also checked on The White Hart, Buxted, recently - sadly, now no table there either.

Heard last night that the table has now gone from the New Moon, Southgate, Crawley. Proposed b/bs friendly between Pool teams of them and us (Windmill) sadly never materialised.

Update on this is that the table has been removed from Clayton & Keymer.
Andy has sold it back to Tarratts and a meeting was taking place re the future of the club.

Indeed a great shame - I thought Andy's table to be one of the best-maintained in the league.

Makes sense now of Andy's remark that he was looking to merge with another team - maybe BHCC.

Understandable in the circumstances but sad also that this would mean the loss of another team.

Yes, there is, but is sadly completely unplayable. It's in an alcove with a wall on the right hand side of the table and a pillar to the left at the playing end. The top has no markings on it, the cushions are hard as iron, and the whole table slopes to one side. Added to that, the timing mechanism is jammed. Other than that it's perfect

They do, though, seem keen to have a table (one that IS playable!!!), so if anyone knows of one that could be put in there please do let me know.

Reckon this is outside of the sphere of influence of Mid Sussex - more applicable to Billingshurst (as Pulborough postcode) or Worthing (due north of the town).
