Can I suggest that someone from each League represented here on ProBoards post a thread at the top of their sub board listing the venues that have tables within their league. I have done this on the Mid Sussex board barbilliards.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=midsussex&action=display&thread=1199832032If the staff member for that league then makes the post sticky/lock it will stay at the top of their list. This will make it easy for any visitors in your area to find a table to play on. A simple idea which could make all of our lives a bit easier (and put more trade in your locals) ;D Any additions to the list could be PM'd to the staff member responsible for them to update the post. Great idea Bernie 8-) But have we upset you? ??? Please also add The Royal Oak at Wivelsfield Green/Jacobs Post, who are another non-league venue (the table was still there about 3 months ago) - nice pub and deserves a team either in Mid Sussex or Lewes league. The new people have also removed the high-backed ricky seat that used to restrict the access behind the table.

I agree with Ros - good idea Q! ;)
I believe that there is also a (non-league) table at the Jack & Jill pub at Clayton, there was last time that I went there but that was probably 18 months ago so it may have changed since then. ???

Likewise at the Anstye Cross - though it was in an awkward place, right up against the bar. :(

Sorry Ros I had the idea last night and was hurriedly putting it together, my memory's not what it used to be and I forgot the newest venue in our (your) league. I will update later.
In the meantime lets send a few scouts out & about to check if these other venues still have tables. I will then add them to the list. Cheers Bernie

I can confirm absolutely that there is no table at the Anstye Cross. :(
The table that was there was put in by the man who is the new landlord at the Eight Bells (Bolney) he sold the Cross just a couple of months after installing the table and the new owners threw the table out immediately. :(
When we were looking for a new venue after the Victory, I went in to the Cross to enquire and got a rejection that bordered on rudeness (and I had just bought a glass of wine!) Thankfully most landlords are at least pleasant even if they turn you down, but looking for a new venue is a job best done with company if at all possible.
*Shameless advert* Thanks in advance for adding The Sportsman to the Mid Sussex league list, it is just down the road from Hurst Social Club and is open all afternoon/evening from 12.00 each day. It might suit someone feeling in need of a practice this weekend. I will be ironing it and putting in the match balls on Friday just in case. *End of shameless advert* ;)

How about the Linden tree or Standup in Lindfield where we went one night.

The Standup in Lindfield definitely have a table, because they play in the Lewes League on Monday evenings. I know that, because we beat them last night!! :-)

I hadn't included the Stand up because I presumend they would be listed on the Lewes thread, but thinking about it there is no reason why it cant be on both.

Me thinks this could do with a revamp No mention of the Mill House or The Woolpack ;D plus - CKRBL have quit, and Horns Lodge have joined League. Also Lyn Storr confirmed last night that the Royal Oak, Jacobs Post and the Cock at Wivelsfield have tables. Royal Oak have a board advertising for players, and the Cock has joined the Lewes League. The Standup I think still has a table but no team now in either league.

Rose and Crown (E.Grinstead) table has now gone, according to Steve King.

Not sure if it is still there but the Jack and Jill Pub in Clayton had a table tucked away. I haven't been to the Oub for a couple of years tho.

Yes we could do with a 'roving reporter' to confirm if the table is still there - same for the two White Horses (Ditchling and Hurstpierpoint).

I can say that the table in the Jack and Jill is more than likely still there as i went in not too long ago. For a while i was known as "Billiards Guy" in there as i used to go in on lazy summer afternoons and pump coins into it and enjoy a beer and read of the paper (blimey, sounds like i'm retired!)
As for the Hurst table, that has certainly gone sadly.

i have heard last night that they have a barbilliard table in the bull henfield from one of the guests Blimey! A former league venue for Billingshurst League (last year 1970/71) and Horsham (last year 1984/85). Tony Franks used to play there. The Bull never played Mid Sussex, though, but no reason why they couldn't in the future (the pub being at Shermanbury, this side of Henfield).

I'm just trying to follow on with Bernie's concept by listing all potential venues falling within the area. But I see what you mean, 'non-League' for those in particular being a misnomer. Adjustment made accordingly.

The Knowhere Guide (14/10/2008) seems to indicate that the White Horse Lindfield has a table. Can anyone confirm or deny this, please?

Have spoken to people in the last month claiming to have played on these tables recently.
