Out of sympathy for poor Sergei......
....or rather, because the old one blew up (through over-use ?? ;D) tommo has been obliged to get new laptop.
The purpose of this post is to offer a comparison in the software.
Windows Vista was an important upgrade introduced in around 2008, and was what both Margo and I had when we finally ditched the earlier old-fangled PC which we had acquired for next-to-nothing.
However I had been brought up on the original Word document and Excel spreadsheets and couldn't get on very well with the Vista upgrades of Microsoft Works, preferring to use a 'patch' by which to maintain my original documents.
For the past few days I have been busy transferring essential files, many of which are needed to support three websites, with 90% success, and I will say that the new Windows 7 handles the conversion of these files far better than Vista ever did - so can be recommended.
Of course, the laws of averages state that I am going to have one hurdle left to overcome and mine concerns weekly updates of the League tables with pretty colours......I start with Excel, convert to Word, and then convert again to a Webpage. Windoze 7 can handle this, but you need a microscope to see the results ! So I have to find a way now to increase the size of the Word page before doing the final conversion....and I have very little hair left to pull out ! ;D
