This is not a post to discuss or criticise the handling of this competition.
But as I will be away shortly and unavailable to answer any questions, I would like clarify the situation of two of our players - especially as earlier posts may have left the impression that Nick and Doug were not eligible to be included in the original list.
Nick is currently living and working in the Czech republic. He is still registered for our team and has managed to play for us once this season in the league. He is not registered with any other league on a Wednesday, so therefore is eligible to play in any competitions under our league rules if he wishes to.
Tommo was a week early in assuming that Barney's visit would stop Nick being able to play, because Barney's post said he was visiting Nick this weekend we are on now. However, Nick did let me know that he will be unable to get back to the UK for the Masters weekend.
Doug is also registered for our team. He expressed a wish to just be a reserve this season. He has attended one league match (away against the Woolpack), but as we had 5 'regular' players present, he declined our offer of a game, instead playing the friendly at the end. After Neil became ill, Doug expressed his willingness to stand in, but we have just about managed with our other 'slightly more regular' reserves. (Thanks Adam and TJ!)
Doug is also not registered with any other Wednesday league, therefore Mid-Sussex is his main Wednesday league, so he is also eligible to play under our rules.
I had made Doug aware of the Masters date and left it with him to confirm or otherwise his availability. When I saw that his name had been crossed through, I assumed that he must have been in touch with Lorraine - but perhaps I was incorrect in that assumption. Edit - I was incorrect - Doug has confirmed to me that he would like to play.
I have spoken to Lorraine today and understand the reason why the two players were removed from the list. I am content to leave the matter to the committee and hope that the information above will mean the reinstatement of both of them. I have also emailed a copy of this post to Lorraine for consideration by the committee.

All relevant information or questions should be directed to the Competition Secretary in the first instance to enable her to do the job, or complaints can be made to the Committee via the League Secretary.

Hi Graham,
May I suggest the word "Shaun" be removed from Ros's post ?
It is confrontational, and her post will read fine without it.
Shaun will not wish to be drawn into the discussion especially when asked to justify himself.
thanks, tommo.

I have removed the question mark from the penultimate paragraph. The reason I referred to Shaun was because the implication of his posts was that he thought that Nick and Doug were not eligible for the Masters and had discussed this with the competitions secretary: ....and recalling a conversation I had with Lorraine on Wednesday night over the eligability of players like Nick and Doug. regards to all Shaun But if you give me a little while, I will re-phrase that paragraph so that it is not a question. Edit: I have now removed or changed all the areas that were highlighted above as being of concern. I hope the rest can stand in the public domain as a statement of facts. Thanks Ros, Thread now locked as Lorraine has now initiated separate threads for the two competitions. - tommo
