Put your stuff here - quite important this week as Roy may not be able to produce a newsletter, lets have all the results on here.
Good luck Roy, hope you're feeling a whole lot better soon.

I'm told that Roy goes into hospital (at Cheam) this Friday for his Op. He will then be allowed home after a couple of hours. But then has to take it easy as he will have all movement to his left arm restricted for quite some time. Take it easy Roy and don't worry about bar billiards.
Tommo meanwhile performed some surgery of his own to the new Handcross top prior to tonight's match after a tip-off: but instead of a saw, chisel and plane as had been recommended, his kit consisted of spirit-level, brush and block. The left-hand side had to be raised two turns, but it now plays as flat as a pancake.
Handcross Z 5, White Horse Ditchling 0
tommo 6960, Brian Coleman 1250 John Turner 3210, John Ruffle 2580 MrMike007 1850, Ian Turner 1100 Alan Downs 4210, Dave Ingram 2940 Graham Daniels 2670, Colin Mansfield 1470
Thank you to the White Horse for being so sporting in defeat, they have been our chief tormentors for a couple of years now, knocking us out of Cups and always beating us on their own top. It was nice to win against them for a change and they handled it well, staying on afterwards for two friendlies.

Best wishes to Roy from all at the Greyhound.
Victory 1 Greyhound 4
A pretty good night for us with the only loser being Paul on the last ball. As usual a very pleasant evening was had with the victory crowd. Should be an interesting match next week against the Z's with them having had a practice on our table in the cup, a vital match match for both sides at this stage of the season.

Disaster at the Hurst....... The 'A' team lost 1-4 :o
Which on my calculation makes the Prem div:
70 - Greyhound 65 - 'Z's 63 - Plough - last nights result still to come 54½ - 'A's 53 - Hurst 29½ - Windmill - last nights result still to come

The pace is indeed hotting up, with much resting on next week's table-top clash as TIR so astutely observes.
Perhaps we could have a write-up for last night's Hurst v H/X A from either Q or the BB Reaper - come on, lads, don't be shy !
Did you read that I've made the H/X table nice for you and JT tonight, Q ? I'll be along to score for you tonight, plus take any flak from either player who finds it not to their liking. ::)

Perhaps we could have a write-up for last night's Hurst v H/X A from either Q or the BB Reaper - come on, lads, don't be shy ! I didnt arrive until partway through the 3rd game - we were already 0-2 down, Paul Jobbins lost on the last ball to Lorraine in the 3rd, Chris lost to Andy Hall in the 4th Andy playing some outrageous shots ;D I played Roy in the last, leading off with 6k, Roy got the break back and was going strong before, unbeleivably putting the break down 4 times, the game then wandered back and forth and I ran out the winner with 11,100 ..... 4-1 Did you read that I've made the H/X table nice for you and JT tonight, Q ? I'll be along to score for you tonight, plus take any flak from either player who finds it not to their liking. ::) Did you know that we were under threat from Roy NOT to touch the table as it was playing so well ??? it seems that he played it just after it had been recovered and before it settled. Any complaints are now directed to YOU and no longer me ;) Thanks for the offer Clive it is very appreciated, I might even buy you a drink ;)(bribe) ;)

Did you know that we were under threat from Roy NOT to touch the table as it was playing so well ??? it seems that he played it just after it had been recovered and before it settled. Clayton & Keymer syndrome - okay when installed by Richard, then someone started fiddling about to it and it was all over the shop only a couple of days later. Nicely settled now, though, apparently. I had heard bad reports of the new H/X top, and that a certain person had tried to correct it but made it worse on Tuesday. I was determined it wasn't going to favour the White Horse, they are used to a bad table. So I got down there early with my spirit level and it was immediately obvious what had been causing the "curling round". It took about five minutes to adjust. Levelling a table ain't rocket science, and it's a pity that there aren't more captains as diligent as myself - even if I do say so myself. :-[ ;)

I'm quite happy and proficient myself, though I disagree with using a level, you cant beat rolling balls up the table.
When we originally moved the Handx table to its position by the bar it was me who leveled it, and it played superb (if I say so myself) but since its been back by the stairs it seems to change week in/week out, I'm sure the table itself is being moved albeit very slightly. The last person who touched it AFAIK was Darrell about a week ago

Tommo - you obviously weren't aware of conversations taking place on Tuesday night - but BB Reaper is far from shy!!!! ;) I can vouch for that!! :o Ask Margo!!
And apparently he chalked my game for a reason - but he fully denies that. :o

And what was all that about me looking over your shoulder to catch a glimpse of the scorecard ? :-[ 8-)
There's a saying about greengrocers and fruit and the word display somewhere, but I can't quite call it to mind !

What Q didn't mention as he wasn't there was we fell foul of the Hurst long clock as I was nearly 3000 in front of the BB reaper at 17 mins. He got break back and played out the table up to 21 mins & beat me by 800. & as Q said Paul lost on last ball so it couyld have been a 3 - 2 win for the A team :'( :'(

The BB REAPER being shy not at all. playing 4 Conservatory club on a tuesday is fantastic and i am far from shy up there i belive it is because of the great team mates up there making myself very welcome. Josie i had just finished playing and unfortunatly had to buy the opposing player a drink, when i come back from the bar you were ready to play but had no scorer so i jumped and offered my services IT MUST HAVE BEEN FATE. even tho it was a lovely low cut top i couldnt see anything :'( :'( cause i was sat the wrong side of you. (start playing left handed) ;D 8-).
From the hurst side no one had scored less than 4k, Father Hall had a 5k in the secound. And Q racked up a fantastic 11k over two breaks allowing Mr Wells score a little 90 to help his average.

What a strange thread this is turning out to be............... We seem to have three separate discussions going, one of them really belonging elsewhere on the Surrey board ! ;D (.)(.) ;D
Re: the events on the Hurst 21-minute table (illegal when Sav's new rulebook is published) - The Reaper failed to mention that Mr Roy put the break down four times so was in good company on the night as this achievement was matched by John Turner (v Jukesey) and Gareth Lloyd (v Alan Messer).
Re the Handcross table, it was confirmed as a peach after last night: Bernie, after a 3-0 senior singles win over J.T. - which at one stage included a break of 10,700 - will be able to confirm it. The only downside is that it has the usual shoddy side cushions, overtightened and with pinched rubbers, but there's not a lot I can do about that. And as for all the other clutching of straws that went on last night in trying to find fault with it (hearing a rattle when tapping the side cush and discovering it was the metal flip-up thousand-counter, and Sir Jock 'o the Strap and his oversized red balls :o) - well I ask you. ::) ::)

Fate indeed!!!! ;D
Anyway - you've ruined it for everybody else now - I shall closely examine all tops before leaving the house in future. ;)
Now - let the rest talk about their billiards - Tommo will be telling us off again otherwise!! :P

Roy is obviously fit enough to send the report, hurrah, so here it is: Greyhound moved a point further away from their nearest rivals following a 4-1 win away to The Victory. Chris Watson put the visitors ahead only for Rob Driver to bring it back level. The next three went Greyhound’s way with wins for Trevor Rees, Neil and Peter Burchell keeping them in the hunt for the championship and the Vees in line for the spoon. Plough got a home win against Windmill to keep them in contention in second place. Once again first blood went to the visitors with a win for Steve Smith. Mark Webber squared it at one all before Andre Layzell put Windmill back in front. A top score from Plough’s Des Gasson made it two each to give Keith Potter the job of taking the decider, which he did well enough. The Zeds are now just two points behind Plough after dishing out a whitewash at home against The White Horse. Clive Thompson hit big in the first to defeat his opposite number and this was followed by wins for John Turner, Mick Holmwood, Alan Downs and Graham Daniels. Hurst find themselves just 1.1/2 points behind the A Team after a very useful home win. Kevin Hall won the first with a late break and was followed by dad Pete with the home side’s best score of the match. Lorraine fought off a strong challenge to clinch the match and rookie Andy Hall won well to make it four nil. Then that bloke arrived, late, with cue chalked and determination high to put in a 6K+ break and a final score of 11K+ to take the best away score so far this season. Very well played Bernie Lawrance. The two top teams in division one came face to face at the Keymer Legion and Saints went away with the points. Derek Taylor put Kleiners in front winning a close first leg which was cancelled out when Chris Little won the next for the visitors. Kleiners lead was restored by Peter Edwards only to be ruled out by Saints skipper Shaun Morris. The deciding leg went to Matt Geal but Kleiners still hold a three point lead. Droops won at home against The Watermill but couldn’t do enough to change their league position. Colin Humphrey and Andy farmer-Wright won the first two legs for the home side before Chris Nikolaj stopped the surge with a win in the third. Adam Bateup won the match after winning a very close fourth leg and the visitors grabbed an extra point thanks to Kim Steening in the final frame.
