The 'Z's continued their recent resurgence of form and have now put the destiny of the League title back in the mix with an all-round solid performance on leaders Greyhound's own table.
Greyhound 1, Handcross 'Z' 4
Chris Watson 1910, Johnny Haigh 3430 Tir 6160, MrMike007 3460 Neil Burchell 980, Barry Timson 5360 Paul Goodwin 2740, tommo 5390 Peter Burchell 1830, John Turner 3590
An interesting match: at one stage, in both top scorer Tir and tommo's games, it looked like they were not going to win.
The Greyhound team as usual made it into a sociable evening, and it was great to see a septagenarian on each side having fun in the friendly doubles afterwards.

What a bunch of heroes are the Hurst. Is that the first time ever an entire family - the Halls - have made up a team ? And fancy beating the formidable Plough team !
Which (with apologies to Q for plagiarising his format) on my calculation makes the Prem div, with 3 matches to go:
71 - Greyhound 70 - 'Z's 68 - Plough 58 - Hurst 54½ - 'A's - last nights result still to come 31½ - Windmill - last nights result still to come
Reaper will appreciate this: J.T. was showboating last night, chasing the last ball round the table for ages, and when he at last got the break back, raised his cue above his head with both hands! I thought he was going to do a lap of honour round the bar when he won... ;D

Once again Roy is the provider... Greyhound find themselves with a much reduced lead at the top following a tough home defeat against the resurgent current champions. Jonny Haigh put the Zeds in front but this was pulled back when Trevor Rees hit big for the home side in the second. The next two legs went to the visitors with big hits for Barry Timson and Clive Thompson. John Turner then put icing on the cake when winning the last. Zeds move up the table to find themselves just one point behind the leaders. The Plough drop down to third place after a comprehensive beating away to Hurst. They started well with a big hit from Malc Fuller but the following four frames went the way of the home side with big hits from Lorraine, Pete and Kevin Hall. Robert Hall won a close contest with Plough’s skipper to make it a good evening for Hurst. The A Team won well at home to keep themselves out of the drop zone. They went two up with wins for Ian Giffen and John Lear. Droops pulled one back thanks to cap’n Andy farmer-Wright but the remaining two legs went to the home side with wins for Dazza Skinner and Bernie Lawrance. Kleiners had their lead cut at the top of division one despite an away win at The Watermill. Norman Cragg put the home side ahead before Ted Stringer won a last ball game to even things up. John Willis then put Watermill into the lead again only to see Dilly Williamson snatch the fourth. Petticoats and perfume took control of the deciding last frame with a very important win for Jenny Edwards to keep her team at the top – but only just. White Horse move above The Watermill following this week’s home win over The Windmill. Dave Ingram and Ian Powell put the home side two up before Jon Slatcher won an important third frame to save the brush. But it didn’t deter the remaining Horse players, John Ruffle and Ian Turner, who took the remaining legs and the match. Saints moved to within a point of the top of division one after whitewashing the Vess at home. No match details available.
