Hi Jock
We don't know if the speed break will happen until Lorraine is able to do the schedule for final's night but we asked for it to happen, if at all possible, at committee on Thursday. Last year was different because the Charity final was played earlier.
We need a volunteer to run it and you will be volunteered ;D ;D ;D
Seriously we will need someone (or more) not occupied elsewhere to run the speed break comp, if it happens, so anyone interested can post here or contact me direct.

I have already said I would take my turn at the helm as per last year but would like to enjoy the night as well. :)

Thanks Josie,
You forgot to wish our other teammate (JT) luck in the Pairs Final. But I suppose that 'luck' goes without saying in John's case. ;)
It's certainly a big night for the BB Reaper - in two major Finals.
And me old mate Sir Jock o'the Strap is taking part in TWO Team Finals, plus the First Division Singles, so will be playing for most of the evening ! 8-)

What am I saying - he doesn't read this board anyway!!! ;) Good luck to my lovely teammate John T as well - although I don't really think his magic wand needs any more luck!!!!! It's certainly a big night for the BB Reaper - in two major Finals. Yes - I shall really have my fingers crossed for BBR tonight. I only wish I could be there to see it! :(

A very enjoyable evening at the Hurst club watching the Mid Sussex Finals & very well supported by it`s members. My first visit there and i can see why it has been used in recent years for the One day competitions. Along with the Roffey club, we have two very good venues for County events should we need them.
A good night for the Reaper, Mens Individual winner & Mixed Doubles winner with Lady H (her second M/D title in a week)
Ladies Individual was won by hard working Lorraine Hall, who never stopped all night.
Sir Jock O`Strap won the Div 1 singles.
D.Ingram & C.Mansfield won the Open doubles & the Greyhound won the Team cup doing the League/Cup double.
I think the Plough won the Team plate & the Brewers the Charity cup. Hard luck to Tommo though, two runners-up medals on the evening.
Very good competition on the speed break table, £1 per go, all monies towards the League. £92 was raised.

Thanks Sir KT for your angle on the evening. I have prepared a report too from a more partisan point of view, but the two seem to fit together well, so here goes :
Report on Mid Sussex Finals Night.
The BB Reaper – or BB Flirter as he also was last night – is the new Mid Sussex Singles Champion. And he did in style, coming back from a game down against Derek Taylor to level, and then returning a fine 5k-plus break in the decider. 8-)
He was a double winner on the night: partnering Lady Hayley in the Mixed Doubles Final, he dominated the first game against Peter and Jenny Edwards, and then won the match when tragically Jenny potted the last two balls left after the bar when one needed to be left up on the table.
Mummy Hall was a champion too, defeating Ros (aka Charlady) in the Ladies Singles.
In the Open Doubles, the White Horse tasted success in the form of Dave Ingram and Colin Mansfield, Dave securing the match (over tommo and John Turner) with a classy break in the deciding leg. Both the first and second legs went to the last ball. Consolation for Turner was found in the form of a raffle prize – a box of vegetables – and he later won a chicken to go with it. His classic “glass is half empty rather than half full” line was : “Wot, no Jersey Royals ??” :o
Greyhound added the Team Cup to the Premier League title to make it The Double, but it was a close-run thing against Handcross ‘Z’ :
Greyhound 3, Handcross ‘Z’ 2. Peter Burchell 1560, MrMike007 4960. Neil Burchell 2620, John Turner 2030. Paul Goodwin 5020, Alan Downs 3920. Tir 2370, Barry Timson 1600. Chris Watson 3620, tommo 4860.
Sir Jock o’the Strap’s team the Brewers Droops took part in two team Finals – the Knockout Plate and the Charity League Final – losing the first to the Plough, but beating the Watermill in the Charity.
It was observed that Sir Jock’s First Division Singles Final against Peter Edwards went to the wire, Peter running up a fine 6k to level, but succumbing to Jock in the deciding leg. So, for Jock, 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
Sir KT was in attendance, no doubt in support of Lady H, and predictably won the Speed Break competition: he generously donated his winnings back to the League. He was also called upon to present the Sparky Scrolls – a tradition for the person in each team having won most games. Tommo on checking his found it to be totally unique as it contains the extra wording “this is a special Sparky Scroll to Tommo the Quizmeister and Tart extraordinaire”. ;D ;D ;D
The Presentation was completed by means of the award of Sussex County trophies won by representatives of the League: Lorraine and Jenny received their Ladies Doubles award and Andy Farmer-Wright was presented with the Team Captains Cup.

Thank you KT and Tommo for your support last night and everyone else who was supporting me. I must admit today i cant stop smiling. :) :)
A special thanks also goes to Margo for the little fib she told me - but hey i cant complain it worked. ;)
o yes nearly forgot - as for the BB Flirter, he was defiantly in full swing, but you cant complain about that Tommo as he also gave you a peck on the cheek, you seemed so jealous ;D

Firstly Well done to Lorraine & ALL the Mid Sussex committee for another first class evening that went as smooth as clockwork.
Congratulations to BBR on his excellent win 8-) it's good to see it going to someone else. But also congrats to all winners. Well done Jock from my scorers chair you looked cool & composed through out & Bad luck to Pete but you played brilliantly in the first to catch up If you only had another 2 or 3 minutes it would have been a different story because you took him to the cleaners in the 2nd. Ian.

Thank all for the excellent support and words of encouragement, and of course the good natured barricking. A great evening all round and much cheering and applause to all the winners. Commiserations and comforting hugs to the runners up, there were no losers on the night as everyone played well. If not for the sake of a lucky red to the 10 pocket, my result could have easily gone the way of Eddie 2bellies. (no I haven't gloated or lorded over him at work today at all)
Again a great night, well organized and orchestrated by mother Hall and the rest of the committee!!! And a fond farewell and bon voyage to Dickie on the bar!!!
Looking forward to the Kent Classic, hope to see some of you their and for the rest, next season beckons.
