Ooh, look at us - barely gone 11 and already back from the pub. Could be something to do with the table only going 14 minutes tonight. But who are we to complain - no one has formally objected to the Hurst going 21 minutes. So roll on Sav's AEBBA Rules booklet and we can have some commonsense in place for next year.
Anyway, great news for both the Greyhound and the Plough - the Z's crown came unstuck tonight and can't be mended with any amount of vinegar and brown paper.
Watermill 4, Handcross 'Z' 1
Chris Nikolaj 2330, Barry Timson 1210 Kim Stenning 1560, tommo 1470 Adey White 2010, Johnny Haigh 750 Norman Cragg 2160, John Turner 1040 John Willis 1650, MrMike007 1960
After tommo's comedy of errors - in which he had firstly pegged a winning break, then looked safe with the bar gone only to lose on the last 200 - a complete whitewash looked the likely outcome. But MrMike007, a whole thousand behind at one stage having missed the ultra-thick break with both balls, refused to be beaten and next time he retrieved the balls took the break back to front. It proved to be the key to success against an opponent who I thought had played some of the best and crispest shots of the evening on an awkward and unforgiving table.
So that's it for the Z's - but at least there's still the Cup and the Charity League to play for.

Last night instead of Hurst doing the spanking we were the ones being spanked
Hurst Club 1 v CKRBL 4
Rob 2130 V Dilly 6200 Pete 3420 V Jenny 2240 Kev 1770 V Ted 5130 Lorraine 4210 V Peter 4450 Roy 2850 V Derek 3790
Last night was a disaster all round for hurst slow playing by the opposition in one case wont mention who but it took the 3 minutes to score 1k on the break.
sorry not in a good mood this morning spent all last night in hospital with andrew no sleep and just got in to work.

Greyhound 2 White Horse 3
Another poor home display from the Greyhound leaves the title still open. All games went with break the decider being lost by our normally reliable captain who managed to throw away two winning leads by black pegging and missing the ball then losing on the last ball after two attempts. The White Horse would be a formidable team if only the did not have the worst league table I have played on in 40 years.

Condolences, Trevor, the Greyhound's captain must be feeling the same emotions as myself in the cold light of day: everything seemed to be falling just right for me, with a ball pulled back for potting a sequence of 50s with the bar due. And not trusting the dead right hand cushion I tried a cut for two in or to leave a better position, and skimmed it and went behind the 50. And Peter Burchell had warned me in advance of the delights of the Watermill table !
I agree wholeheartedly on your last comment. White Horse have some talented players and have done us over a couple of times in the Cup on neutral tables. But they are being held back by their terrible home top. By contrast, if the Greyhound - who have never won the League before - manage to do it this season, it will be a good advertisement for having a straight and well-maintained home table. Good luck next week, and hope you do it.

Hey Kev if you wind the clock back some more you'll win more games, it mean you can go on with the break score your normal 1000 brk touch up and no-one could catch u. ;D ;D :P

Ah but Choccie, in our (much fairer) leagues, you aren't necessarily guaranteed the break every week should your captain happen to like you. More often than not (6 times out of 10 by the laws of average) the Reaper will be against the break on his home top.

Couldn't log on last night damm computers. The A team took a 4 - 1 win over the Victory & in my calculations that puts us level with the Hurst, so at the other end of the table it's all down to the last game to see who stays up. Ian.

Tommo home just after 11, short bar on table no excuse as it is having a long time at the bar that matters.

No excuse at all really and very true what you say.
Wifey (who I wouldn't argue with ::) ) commented on the way home that even Katie would have been hard pushed to get 6k on it. ;)

Andrew seems to be ok, the doctor couldn't find anyhthing wrong other than low sugar level, which means diabetic? ??? but if he was to eat a proper meal once in a while i dont think he would keep passing out, and to get home to bed a normal time probably wouldn't go a miss, the dirty little stop out ;D

Glad Andrew's ok, Reaper Not only water, but make sure he eats plenty of fruit and veg. ;)
Anyway, it transpires that that excellent fellow Jock o' the Strap did my team the greatest possible service by winning the decider against the Plough, which means that all top three teams lost. A big thank you to Andy Farmer-Wright and Humphrey Jr. too.
So as we enter the final week, this is what the Premiership looks like:
Greyhound P21 W14 L7 Pts 78 Handcross Z P21 W14 L7 Pts 75 Plough P21 W13 L8 Pts 74 Handcross A P21 W10 L11 Pts 64.5 Hurst SC P21 W10 L11 Pts 64 Windmill P21 W4 L17 Pts 34.5
Some interesting conclusions can be drawn: 1. With our main rivals playing each other, one will win their last match and the others will lose. 2. If the Greyhound win the last match they win the league. 3. If Handcross Z win their last match they finish runners-up -UNLESS the other result is Plough 4 Greyhound 1, in which case there is a three-way tie ! 4. Handcross Z could also be runners-up through losing - providing they match or better Plough's result. In turn the team they play - their own A's - will be looking to equal or better the Hurst's final result.
Interesting !

I've got to have a lie down and recover after reading that ;D ;D ;D But I do like the idea of a three way tie :o ??? >:( ;D

For the record, here is the lower division :
CKRBL P21, W13, L8, Pts 93.5 St Francis P21 W12 L9 Pts 87 White Horse P21 W10 L11 Pts 78 Watermill P21 W11 L10 Pts 77.5 Brewers Droops P21 W 9 L12 Pts 66 Victory P21 W4 L17 Pts 47.5
Looks fairly cut-and-dried to me, though you can get strange bonus point thingys for beating Premier teams - which as we know from last week isn't beyond the realms of possibility !
Well done to the promoted teams.
