Brewers Droops 3, Handcross 'Z' 2
Well, the white van ceremoniously dumped us at Plummers Plain and I've just made it home.......
Seriously, what a great match ! It went to the wire - well almost, and Zeds actually felt it was going our way once we got 2-1 up, thanks to the acid bath murderer !
But Sir Jock 'o the Strap and Master Bateup had other ideas and turned it round to make it to the Final - where they will play - no, not the Plough but the Watermill. :o :o :o
Brewers captain Andy Farmer-Wright's tactics to use players again who had already had a go on the table contrasted with tommo's - which were to give all seven of his players a go. In retrospect Andy's tactics proved to be better.
Barry Timson 5770, Andy Farmer-Wright 1000 tommo 1640, Sir Jock 'o the Strap 4200 John Turner & Johnny Haigh 3580, PonyTailedGuy & son of Noddy 2760 Alan Downs & Graham Daniels 2850, Sir Jock & Noddy 3590 MrMike007 3060, PonyTailedGuy 3560
Pivotal moment was in game four where both Graham and Alan come tantalisingly close to sinking that last ball for the break back, and then Jock did it and turned in a matchwinning thousand break. In the last game MrMike007 was giving away nearly 2000 on the difficult Plough top and was chipping away 500 at a time and holding them, but MasterBateup, in spite of an early black peg (which took him back to his handicap) held himself together well and played some good shots. The coup de gras was performed when, with the bar gone and the gap only 300 with only the cueball plus a white and a red left at the back of the table, he potted all three balls with a single shot. Well done to the Brewers and the best of luck in the Final.
Tommo is suffering burn-out at the moment, with trips to Worthing tomorrow and next Monday and the Mermaid Open in between. It's been a gruelling season but an interesting one, and close-fought matches like tonight in good company help to make it a pleasurable experience even being on the losing side.

To be fair 'The White Van Man' felt that the Z'ds played well enough to not be subjected to his special and unique brand of torture. I personally think that we were bloody lucky, yes we did utilize the fact that I found the break in my singles then broke off in the doubles, but thats just sensible tactical play, never the less I didn't score heavy at all!!!!! I think the Z'ds played alot better and more attractive billiards, we got the run of the balls with right shots at the right time, rarely dropping into the pockets we were aiming for!!!!!
Superb hospitality from Mike at the Plough, food for free, great sing song at the end, (you missed all the fun tommo, going home early) a great display of pub magic from Mike himself, but maximum respect to the entire Z's 7, not only were they difficult to play against but, talented, tenacious and tactical to boot. But gracious in defeat and good friends. Great night all round, seconded only by my night with 2, yes 2. polish lesbians at the world championships Jersey last year. Language was a problem, but then again we only spoke in tongues!!!!!
Thank you Tommo and the team for a great night, bring on the watermill? Who, I ask you, Who? are the Watermill? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

From what I have just read I think the winner was.... BAR BILLIARDS, sounds like a cracking game played in (and with) the best spirits.
Congratulations Brewers and Watermill. Should be an interesting final ;)
Oh and by the way in Jocks last rants, when he talks about Mike I think he means Mark. (never could hold his Jack Daniels)

we also had our very own beyond pissed irish guy singing and dancing in the corner The pi$hed Irish guy is in there all the time, and I got chatting to him on a previous occasion. Big mistake ! Margo spent most of last night positioning herself between us to make sure it didn't happen again ! ;D ;D Would like to echo the earlier thanks to Mark (Plough landlord) for the (as usual) great food. 8-) After our philosophical discussion last night Adam, the Plough pub is henceforward known as the Big Dipper. ;)
