Well done to Pete Edwards on his performance in the Mermaid (Hampshire Open) played at Portsmouth yesterday.
Sir Jock o' the Strap and the BB Reaper also had a good day with some stunning wins over opponents, but it was Pete who came away with a trophy for a last-16 finish. 8-)

Yes well done Pete. MUST BE YOUR ROUND, MINE IS A PINT.
i had a struggle in the 1st round against chris wing i was 3k down and managed a break at the end to sneak the win, i was then drawn against bill kerr in the second round and started the second leg of that match 8k down, i then managed a 12080 opening break (highest break for me) to win the match. i got knocked out in round 3 on table 5, a dog of all tables,

Congratulations Pete on getting to the last 16. A great achievement.
Also, just wanted to say well done Kev. You've beaten my personal best now - I'll have to try harder!!!! ;)
Congrats to you both. :)

No he didn't!!!!!
Me and poor auld kev had to start at the 1st round and fight our way through tough opponents only to fall short on the only two dog tables in the room 5 & 7.
I had a good opening match against Sue Atkin taking the first leg with a couple o breaks of 3k+. Think I narrowly lost the second leg, but still managed to slip in a 2k+ break at the end. Next onto Tony Jenners, can't remember much about the match to be honest but I did steal it 2-0 no ide3 on the scoring though. then came a cropper on table 7 against martin leech, dog of a first game with an awkward break, finishing only 870 ahead of him, his break 2nd leg and he duly thrashed me. Good on him!!!
yes Pete won a trophy, yes he got to last 16, yes he only had to play one match to get it, yes he is going to crow about it forever, and I gotta work with him!!!!! Bar billiard gods have let me down on this one big time!!!!!
well done pete!!!!

The point is, Pete may well have got a couple of byes in early rounds, but once you get to the advanced stage you come up against daunting opposition.
Pete made it a stage further to the last 16 and I don't think anyone should take anything away from him.
I say again - well done Pete ! 8-)

No body was!!!!!
Not suggesting for 1 minute that auld eddie 2 bellies does not deserve his trophy, quite the contray actually, as he was behind after his 1st leg and with much encouragement from myself he overcame the 1500 deficit to win handsomely!!!! very well played indeed!!!!
I was simply commenting on the fact that not only is he the richest (private joke ) man in Burgess Hill he is also the luckiest in the sense that not only did he get a 'bye' in round 1 but that was rapidly followed with a walkover in round 2.
AND I am well aware of how good the opposition is in the later rounds thank you very much!!!!
I also say again - well done Pete !
Come on Tommo lad where has your sense of humor gone?

Let me tell you this, boy - That incredibly handsome and talented fellow with the streamlined body form known as Pete Edwards just happens to be the 32nd-highest rated player in Sussex according to the last time the list was published: www.sussexbarbilliards.com/Sussex/Rankings/Men's%203%20years%20(Jan%2005).htm That makes him the highest rated Mid Sussex player apart from Sparky. And I will tell you this : Pete won the highest break trophy for the Mid Sussex team in the Redhill Invitation tournament back in January. And he gets 2 National Ranking Points for the last-16 appearance at Pompey. So, do I still have a fine sense of humour, or do I have to draw all this to Pete's attention so he can allude to these fine achievements through the medium of your workplace ? ;D ;D ;D
