Excellent news my friends, Young Mr Andy Farmer Wright defeated Jean Over last night 2-1 at The Roffey Club in the Final of The Sussex Captains Cup.
Andy won the toss in game 1 and bravely put Jean in to break 1st. They both struggled to find the break with neither of them scoring particularly well, table was frustratingly unforgiving, and markedly up hill. Andy took the first against the break despite an excellent 2k+ Andy then came on and plinked away the last balls to win by around 150. ;D
Andy to break and he needed to score, from having just watched jean finally find it. He only managed 1500 ish though and there followed a shot for shot sequence lasting some 10 minutes in which Andy edged further and further away finally with around 3-1/2 minutes remaining a frustrated Jean got the break back and ran the table out with 3k+ to win. Good break as well as fast. Scoring at well over a 1000 a minute. :o :'(
Tension mounting and into the last, with even breaks Andy had to win the toss and score heavily, well he lost the toss and Jean broke of with a surprising 500 or so. Andy came on and it was almost a repeat of the first game in reverse as Jean manged to edge further and further away leaving Andy frustrated with the table! Then the billiards gods smiled upon Andy as Jean pegged a beak of a couple of hundred which would have won the game with the time left. She potted the ball but incredibly parked the cueball on the peg spot, giving Andy the break back. :o ::) ;D
He took his chance and played the table out with a break of 4k+ to steal it from Jean by a couple of hundred points to spare. :o
A great match and all credit to Jean for her part in it. Several large bacardi's and lots of laughs afterwards with Jean and Alan B in good humor despite the loss. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Massive thanks to mother Hall for not only getting Andy and myself to The Roffey Club but for her support as well, same thanks to Pete and Kev Hall for their support and encouragement for Andy! :-* :-* :-*
Andy should receive his winners trophy at the Mid-Sussex Finals night, not bad at all considering this was the first time Andy had ever entered THe Captains Cup.
Top stuff andI well pleased for Andy mate, you held your nerve superbly!!!!!!!!!
