Well, nice to see something new get off the ground and a plan come together. I can report that Charlady's table is now installed in the Wheatsheaf, having served its apprenticeship at the recent Sussex Masters and Sussex Open. It has been subject to plenty of TLC inside and out, the wooden framework looks immaculate and Mario has certainly done a good job on reclothing it and has installed some excellent bouncy cushions. Sir KT had a 19k break on it on the Saturday which confirms its pedigree as a championship-class table. My two frames on it in the Open yielded me 14k-plus so obviously I felt comfortable on it too. So now it is in its new home the Wheatsheaf, and it had its first-ever match played on it last night - a friendly against visitors Handcross SC, who brought eight people along ! A good evening was enjoyed by all, the Wheatsheaf is a nice, large pub, and we were looked after very well by the staff and the food was excellent. It's going to be one of the foremost venues in Mid Sussex, so well done in finding it, and good luck to the former Victory team for next season and beyond. 8-) Have heard from the fixtures Secretary today that bar billiards at the Wheatsheaf is not to be, as Ros has moved her team, table and all to the Sportsman Inn at Goddards Green. So we wish the team a long and happy stay at their new home, and the fixture list will be amended accordingly.

I herd from mother hall that Ros had moved to the Plough? This is what the message, sent by Jan on Saturday, said : "so they picked up their table and left ................ Ladies and gentlemen, The Bolney Nomads, led from the front by skipper Ros, have moved from the Wheatsheaf, Cuckfield to the Sportsman Inn at Goddards Green The telephone number of the new venue is xxxxxxxxxx We wish the team a long and happy stay at their new home. Jan." So which sister has the latest gen on the subject?

So where is this fixture list??

News from the AGM would also be nice (unless I'm not reading enough threads) like ... who is the Fixture girl? is it still Jan?

No worries, Bernie, I'll e-mail you a fixture list from my desk at work tomorrow.
The AGM went smoothly and was wrapped up quickly: only momentous change is that Jenny Edwards is now the General Secretary, Lorraine remains as Competitions Secretary, and Roy has kept his hand in in a reduced capacity - through Jan being Registrations Secretary.
Apart from that, your old team have defected from the Handcross Club to Hurstpierpoint, so if you wanted to remain a registered player with Handcross you could always join my payroll !

Sorry Bernie if that was too obscure as I didn't think of our Cornish exile being 'out-of-the-loop' ;D
Much as Tommo has said it comes from Jan having her own (new) email address which starts with 'fixturesgirl' and an email (1st Sept) from Jan&Roy telling us of the Vees moving with an attached updated Fixture list.
Sparky (with a Y 8-))
by the way do you want to be a reserve for us at the Dun Horse the table is good but I'm not so sure about our new nickname 'The Old Nags' as even the 'Windy Millers' was better ;D ;D ;D

Pity he won't really be playing for anyone (at least not Mid-Sussex or Horsham) :-/ but it could start a new thread on the furthest people travel for regular games and I reckon Kady and PF go further than I did for Billingshurst last season but not as far as Q would have to 8-)

Well I didn't for one minute think he'd be playing regularly, Sparky, but it's nice to have someone like that on your books in case they sometimes show up out of the blue - say at Christmas. If Q suddenly showed up at a league match I'd willingly stand down so that he could play.
I know that Gerry McCarthy, who was one of Horsham's finest players - but who emigrated to Ireland about 15 years ago - sometimes puts in a rare appearance.
And we have actually registered Alec Hastings (who now lives in Spain) for South Park B, and there is a realistic chance that he could play a league game should he show up at Christmas.
