Whenever the Z's and the Droops meet it's usually a close-run thing and tonight was no exception. Barry Timson stole the first frame from Sparky, but Lorraine struck back immediately, taking Alan Downs's break game. Sir Jock o'the Strap won a tentative frame to put the Droops 2-1 up, but MrMike007 levelled the match with the best game of the evening 7400-3780 against the brave Andy Farmer-Wright. The stage was set for a captain's innings but tommo blew his chance with a rather inept performance against a determined opponent.
Handcross Z 2, Brewers Droops 3 B.Timson 2620, G.Sparksman 2140 A.Downs 2790, Lorraine Hall 3670 J.Haigh 1590, R.Jeffrey 1820 M.Holmwood 7400, A.Farmer-Wright 3780 C.Thompson 1390, C.Humphrey 3920

Close result, looks like a bad day at the office for Tommo, unlucky for Andy as his score would have won all other matches.

At last we hit form with last years team all together again. Alison drew the short straw catching me on my first good night for ages. Neil looked like beating my score for a while but only managed 8000. Paul played a steady game to win well. The two Chris's played the best game of the night with Chris Watson just snatching it at the end. Peter rounded off the evening with a comfortable win in the last.
Be warned Chris (Pugwash) Watson might only have taken one month to get his new boat from Leek to Godalming but he will spend the rest of the season telling us about his epic voyage.

Nice one, Trevor. So we've not only got a Master Bates (Bateup) but also Captain Pugwash in the league. ;D

The usual three 'missing' results - and official write-up for these three, courtesy of Mr Roy Wells :
Plough 5, Watermill B 0 Plough shares the top spot with Watermill A after whitewashing Watermill B at home. Des Gasson played a captain’s leg to get the match under way and his troops followed his lead with wins for Geoff Parsons, Keith Potter, Malcolm Fuller and Mark Webber.
Watermill A 5, Windmill 0 The second whitewash of the evening came at the Watermill, where the A team keep in touch with Plough at the top after beating Windmill at home. John Willis won a close first leg but his team mates had more comfortable rides with wins for Chris Nikolaj, Nick Staplehurst, Kim Stenning and Norman Cragg.
CKRBL 3, White Horse 2 Kleiners move up a couple of places after this week’s win at home against White Horse. The home side took an early two points lead with a good win for Peter Edwards, a tight one for Ted Stringer. Colin Mansfield stopped the slide by taking the middle game but Jenny Edwards make sure of the match win in the all-important fourth leg. Steve Haskins grabbed an extra point in the last and his side move ahead of Windmill in the table.
...and the up-to-date table :
Team played won points Premier Division Plough 3 3 16 Watermill A 3 3 16 Hurst B 3 3 15 CKRBL 3 2 12 Greyhound 3 2 12 Handcross Z 3 2 11 St Francis 3 0 4
