That is definitely not good news Sav perhaps we should consider ourselves lucky to have 14 tables in good venues to moan about !!!! as the saying goes there is always someone worse off than you.
Tommo a nice reply & I know you love Horsham it's all our hopes that the Interleague will return next season.

To continue my (unashamed!) "rant" about the table after our match at the Windmill last night......... >:(
I was interested to read TIR's comment regarding the position of the red spot -
If the red spot looks wrong it is fairly easy to check as in rule below and mark the position and play from there.
Another spot shall be fixed in the centre of the table with its centre not less than six and three quarters inches and not more than seven and one sixteenth inches from the centre of the break spot on the "D". This shall be known as the red spot.
Although, sadly, we didn't have anything to measure the distance here, I would estimate that the Red Spot at the Windmill is at LEAST 8 inches away from the Break Spot - although I do accept that men are prone to exaggerate certain lengths...!! ;)
As a result of this, the break was not in anything like a "usual place" and on my opening shot the red ball ended up on the left hand cushion next to the 50 hole, with the white ball close to the right hand white peg......! ???
I am the first to admit that I am far from perfect at this game, but when my initial shot is almost exactly replicated by several other players (The Old Fella and Derek Taylor that I saw) during the course of the match, you do start to think that maybe something is not quite right! :o
As I certainly discovered later in the match, it is possible to get the break, however not in a conventional way. :(
If you combine this with the fact that the table is uphill on the right hand side, rolls strongly to the left and is chronically slow (it felt as if it had been brushed the wrong way, possibly to help clear up some drinks that apparently had been spilled on it over Christmas period) I can honestly say that it's the worst table I have ever played on! >:(
Not forgetting that we also played the first 2 games (without anyone realising it! with 1 white ball missing, luckily there was a spare behind the bar! :)
On the table, there is a clear mark (about 1-1.5 inches) nearer to the Break Spot that looks as if the Red Spot was originally positioned there. After the match, a friendly doubles match was played and the BB Reaper tried the break from the "mark" rather than the red spot.
Although he slightly underhit his first attempt, his next try sailed effortlessly into both pockets from a totally conventional break shot!
I have no idea why anybody would therefore have wanted to move the spot to its current position, but I will be calling in there to run a tape measure over the distance because if it is outside of the rules, then it should be changed IMMEDIATELY!
If I had to give this table a mark out of 10, using Jock's format, it would get 1/10 - and the only reason it would get the 1 would be because it had green baize.....!!

Kiddies, (or sometimes inebriated adults) fiddle around with spots, or sometimes they just come loose (especially when pub staff are trying to clean up spillages) Spots will then be put back by someone who has no idea where they should be. If you combine this with the fact that the table is uphill on the right hand side, rolls strongly to the left and is chronically slow (it felt as if it had been brushed the wrong way, possibly to help clear up some drinks that apparently had been spilled on it over Christmas period) ...and there in the last phrase of that quote, I think you have it - perhaps with hindsight it was a mistake to schedule a neutral table match as the first fixture after Christmas? (Our match last week was a rescheduled one) It doesn't look as if the home team have been near the table since Christmas. Perhaps also, Lorraine's draw sheet could repeat the request to captains of the venues to check and brush the table?

We played at the Windmill in the League the week before Christmas, the spot was in the same place as it is now, it was uphill and it rolled to the left then....... but just not as much as it does now! >:(
The table seemed much slower last night as well. :(
My comment in the match report after the last match was "I am glad that I don't have to play on this table again this year"......... sadly this obviously proved to be a very short-lived reprieve for me!! :(
Having looked at the upcoming fixtures, I see that we are also due to play there in the Charity Cup in a few weeks time...... I hope that my captain will understand when I tell him that I will be unavailable for that match - I have to wash my hair that night!!! ;)

Tommo, since I spent 2 seasons playing at the White Horse, you should know that I am used to a challenging table.......!! ;)
But the table last night was so poor that you could forget nearly every conventional bar billiard shot that you could ever learn...! :o
On every shot, you had to hit the ball twice as hard as usual to allow for the "uphill" bit of the table..... adjust the line to take the left-hand roll into consideration..... then pray that you actually hit the ball you were aiming at (or another one!) because if you didn't they came flying back at the pegs twice as hard as you hit them....!! >:(
Even if you were able to clear all the balls up and get the break back, it was then a lottery as to whether you could get the break, most people either missed it totally or left them short and gave their opponent the only easy points of the evening.
As for getting practice on it....... even I will pass on that one!! ;D

I do know that the Windmill can be dodgy, Warrior. Following a refurbishment of the pub (and it now also has an impressive beer garden) the table was moved up alongside the main bar whereas before it had been in a little alcove of its own down some steps. When we played our Pairs semi-final there last year the landlord admitted that they were having trouble getting it level and handed me a stash of six beer mats with the advice to put them under the front leg. :o :o :o :o I complied with this strange request, and the table seemed to play reasonably level !
