A big WELL DONE to Mid Sussex's latest entrant to the HALL of fame: 22-year old Kevin Hall made it all the way to the Quarter-Finals of the World Championships in Jersey, an absolutely awesome performance.
In fact was a good weekend for the Hall family in general, as Peter got through to the last 64 following two good wins, including the scalp of Dave Hampton, and Lorraine went a stage further, not only making the last 32 but taking one of the ladies' highest break prizes.
After breezing through to to the last 32, Kevin went on to beat Brighton's Doug Dawson and then Jersey's Graeme Marrett before falling to eventual runner-up Jim Millward.
For his efforts, Kevin received not only a Quarter-finalists's commemorative trophy and cheque, but also the special award for the Most Meritorious Performance of the Competition - to rapturous applause !

here here Kevin is one of a kind the BB reaper struck quite a few deaths at the tournament this year but only time will tell if next year he inflicts the same pain on his opponents because we don't want to be seeing a BB weeper

Thank you guys.
Was quite an achievement, i went out there going for the sheet final (Last 16) but to actually make the quater finals, was definately a massive bonus. I would also like to thank you all for the massive support you all gave.

Many congratulations Kev m8 8-) It was a wonderful run and a joy to watch, you played exceptionally well in your last game against Jim too! (on what many reckoned was the toughest table in the tournament)
Also many congratulations to Lorraine, Tommo neglected to mention that Lorraine had to beat Pauline Withey to gain her last 32 place! :o
Well done to Pete H for last 64 :)
Honourable mentions were also made at prizegiving for both myself and Anna Iles (killerqueen here and now registered to Mid Sussex) who were both "Jersey Virgins" and also made it to the last 64 :)
Several Mid Sussex players made good runs in the Plate too, notably Tommo who got to the last ... Tommo, please tell us! Also John Lear and Master Bateup went quite a distance too.

Yeah superb showing from all the mid sussex entrants this year, with exception to myself who played pants in my 3rd round match, and I mean really pants!!!!
Kev you played superbly showing us that we need to learn to 'up' our level if we hope to compete. Glad your in my team!!!!
Well done to one and all!!!
Highlights Kev getting to quarter final Pork Medallions in pepper sauce at Nelson's Eye Jim Millwoods superb 6k+ break at the end of the final. Even though he had lost he still managed to produce the break in a little over 3 minutes, incredible!!! And last but not least master bateup singing time warp on Sunday night.
Low lights Hitting 8 black pegs in 8 practice matches. Managing 13 consecutive fouls in 1 match being to pissed to get up Sat morning to jump in the Lido with Bob Hall.

Mid Sussex have a new hero in Richard Jeffrey - better known as Sir Jock o'the Strap.
Richard faced the too-stern test of Mark James in the Sussex Open First Round, but then proceeded all the way to the Plate Semi-Final, including some fine victories along the way.
He still had a chance of making the Final with the bar gone in the second leg against Tony Webster, but despite pulling off a great shot to the 100 hole couldn't manage a second: Very unlucky this time, but keep up this standard of play and there will be other chances.

Cheers guys, it was a great day all round, was I quiet NOT really, you've all just gotten a little more deaf in your old ages.
It was a long and hard day all in, :P some good matches as well, I at least didn't disgrace myself in one competition this year. :-* :-* I tried so hard hard to get to the final (sorry guys) :'( :'( it was a close one, but I had chances to win it long before needing the awkward balls at the end. :o ;) And a very nice 8400 break to see off Nick Simmonds or was it Dave Jones? ??? ;D Then forcing big Mal Spier to concede defeat in the quarter final with still 3-4 mins to go in the second leg ;D ;D :P :P and how FAST was table 10!!!!!!! :o :o :o
Thanks to all of you for the excellent support!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

well done Jocko and it was a pity I couldn't be there to help you with the usual 'come on fat man' comment at just the right moment ;D ;D
by the way I think it is not so much you 'getting quieter' but more that the rest of us have 'got used to you' so don't notice it so much ;D ;D :-*

Apparently she is now 6 and only thinks it appropriate to say good luck Dad and not go over the top in support.

Kiara didn't do the "go daddy go daddy go" as at the pompey open either ;D Good try at the spelling DA, but its Keyana. :P No she has rightly decided that shouting 'go daddy go daddy go' at the top of her voice as I start to play, is now very much a thing of the past, deciding on her own that she was far to sophisticated for that kind of childish nonsense and has resulted to a very grown up 'good luck daddy, smash im an bash im'. Bless!!!

The Reaper has won his "Mid Sussex Hero" crown back with two good performances inside a week.
1. Last Monday he landed the Sussex Team Captains Champion title, keeping it in Mid Sussex.
2. Yesterday a Plate Semi-Final appearance in the Buckinghamshire Open.
Younger brother Boball (Hallboy) made it to the Plate Last 16 in his first appearance in an Open: I watched his games and they contained some great shots. Not sure about some of the language in our chess challenge, but another hero nonetheless.
The Reaper made a brave effort to match Gary Powell's roadside endurance record on the journey home but fell short by about 40 seconds. ;D

I would also like to add my congratulations to both Kev & Rob, didn't I train you well, ha ha shame I can't do it myself. Well played to you both. As for Robs language, he has had a good telling off for that.
