Here are the fixtures for 21 November :
Hurst B 3 v St Francis 2 CKRBL 2 Brewers Droops 3 Plough 1, Handcross Z 4 Watermill A 2, Greyhound 3 White Horse 1 Hurst A 4 Sportsman 4 Watermill B 1 Brewers Bravos v Windmill - match abandoned
League leaders are humbled. Plough 1, Handcross Z 4
Mark Webber 2430, tommo 3810 Geoff Parsons 2200, MrMike007 1780 Malcolm Fuller 2300, Barry Timson 2590 Des Gasson 1930, John Turner 3610 Keith Potter 1190, Alan Downs 3020
Played under difficult conditions, with a barful of football spectators oohing and aahing throughout the England game. Handcross seemed to be able to concentrate better on the night, and a dogged performance by JT in the fourth game secured the match.
Once more I find I have to mention the excellent spread provided by Mark at the Plough - generous helpings of welsh rarebit, good selection of sarnies and a bowl of Geoff's home-pickled onions.

Watermill A 2 Greyhound 3
Chris Nikolaj 940 Neil Burchell 2130 John Staplehurst 2440 Paul Goodwin 70 Kim Stenning 4190 Trevor Rees 4340 Nick Staplehurst 4970 Geoff Fairs 1500 Norman Cragg 3110 Peter Burchell 3490
A very tight match with both Peter an yours truly coming back late on to win our games.
A very enjoyable evening with loads of hot dogs and roasties.
Table not easy but very acceptable as the scores show. In the first two games they chased balls around up the top but failed to get back to the break.
Still no luck for Geoff maybe a week away in Amsterdam will revitalise him, but he is taking his wife!
A night off for me tonight - apparently it is something to do with the onions in the hot dogs. Future visitors to the Watermill beware.

Care to amend the table Tommo as Hurst B beat St Francis 3 2 so played 7 won 7. 33p some close games & again it was me drawn last at 2 all against Chris Little Chris unfortunately pegged a 1000 break & i came within 200 as the bar dropped I had a difficult red in front of the 100 just a bit to the right & I played a slow roll up to drop it in & then a white to follow which left one between right hand 20 & 30 both balls down. Sorry Chris you deserved to win. Ian. ;D ;D
(Done it for you Ian - Q) ;D

Bravos v Windmill
I believe this was abandoned during the second game when the lights went out again. This seems to be a regular occurence at the Brewers.

Hi all
It was great to find this website, so I thought that I would join in some of the fun!
Oh, so the lights went out again at the Brewers...?
That happened during our Lewes League match on Monday night, which we had to abandon at 1-1 just as Pete Edwards was getting going with a decent break.
We blamed Pete as he was also at the Interleague match at Hurst when the lights went out, but I guess it could be the influence of the BB Reaper who Droops at the Brewers on Monday nights!
A good result for the Z'ds this week makes the top of the Premier look very interesting, while in Div 1 Sportsman & Hurst A are locked together chasing after the Droops.
It was nice to go back to my old team (White Horse) and post a victory against them, table was playing better than last year although still not easy, but the food and welcome were as good as usual from the new management there.

Hi all It was great to find this website, so I thought that I would join in some of the fun! Welcome Dave, Good to have another Mid Sussex member joining in. Looking at the stats, our Board is the most frequently-used one of the Sussex boards. 8-) Glad also that you see it as 'fun' (not everyone does !) and it's always good to get a different slant on things. ;)

Many thanks for the warm welcome gentlemen, proof (if it was needed!) that the Mid-Sussex is the best & most friendly league around!
I'm really enjoying my bar billiards at the moment, my new team (Hurst A) have made me feel very welcome and it's great to play on a good table, hopefully it will bring me a few good scores as the season goes on but I will ENJOY playing regardless...... after all, that's why we all play the game isn't it??
It's been good to play in the Interleague team as well and meet some new faces, feel that I let myself (and team!) down a bit in my first match, but felt more relaxed in the last game and managed to pot a few more balls which made me feel better about it.
I'm not sure about any "serious" reporting, although more than happy to give my thoughts on matches, tables and anything else for what it's worth....!
Look forward to seeing you all soon.
David

Here's a transcript of Roy's write-up for the weeks games :
Plough 1, Handcross Z 4 Plough dropped a hatfull of points and gave up the leadership following a comprehensive defeat at home to the Zeds. Tommo put Zeds into an early lead only for the consistent Geoff Parsons to square it at one all. That was Plough’s lot as the next three frames went to Zeds with wins for Barry Timson, John Turner and Alan Downs. This effort puts the Handcross side up into third place.
Hurst B 3, St Francis 2 Hurst B won a tight match at home to Saints to move into the top spot. The visitors took an early lead with a big hit (6180) from skipper Shaun Morris. Hurst’s Cap’n John snapped back, levelling it with a win in the next. Saints regained the lead, thanks to Ray Fogwill, only to see Chris Kirkham make it two all. A tight decider finished with a win for Ian Giffen, the match bonus and a look at life at the top.
CKRBL 2, Brewers Droops 3 Kleiners drop a place in the table after a disappointing home defeat to Droops. Things started well with Derek Taylor putting the home side in front but consecutive wins for Colin Humphrey, Little Mama and Richard Jeffrey put the match Droops’ way along with the bonus points. Kleiners’ Ted Stringer took the last leg to keep them in touch with leading pack.
Watermill A 2, Greyhound 3 Another win for the current champions but they can’t get out of the bottom 2. Wins for Neil Burchell and John Staplehurst saw the match tied at one all. A good tussle in the next and Trevor Rees pushed Greyhound’s nose in front. Watermill’s Nick Staplehurst levelled the score once more, just missing out on a big hit, and leaving the field clear for a captain’s head banger in the last. Honours went to Peter Burchell with a win bonus in the bag and who knows, maybe next week, they’ll move out of the drop zone.
Sportsman 4, Watermill B 1 A good home win sees Sportsman keep second place in division 1. Paul Blackburn took Watermill Newboys only point in the first leg but the next four all went to the home side with wins for Mr A, Ros Appleby (with the best score of the evening) Garry Foster and the new jewel Garry Iles.
White Horse 1, Hurst A 4 Hurst Club keep pace with Sportsman, although one match win behind, after a good away win at White Horse. Andy and Pete Hall put Hurst two up before a last ball, last gasp winner for Colin Mansfield stopped the slide, despite the tears on the floor following England’s footballing defeat. As disappointed fans made their way to the smoking area, Dave Ingram and Kevin Hall took the last two frames to make their evening worthwhile.
The match between Brewers Bravos and Windmill was postponed when the floodlights failed.
