Dear All
Having to live my life re work by email... and given some real issues seen recently on here in certain areas..
Please remember that the internet has no intonation of voice.
A simple phrase such as ... You are an idiot , can be taken in two ways if written or said vocally by intonation of voice..
Whilst proboards is a great and powerfull tool... nothing better than a phonecall if you have something to say!!!

I absolutely agree with you Chris.
Its the same with texting and once it is there in black and white ............
And yes, the proboards is a great and powerful tool but more recently, quite embarassing to read. It has had a cringe factor added :-X :(

We have been termed as being oppressive and on other occasions may not have acted as quickly as we should due to senior personalities being involved. We do our best to allow discussion but not let it get out of hand Overall arguments will come and go, but they will happen. I cannot see the boards being termed as any more embarrassing to read of late. In fact, apart from the current Oxford problems, nothing contentious has been discussed in the staff section for three months. Chris is correct in saying that the written word cannot be retracted and may well be taken out of the context intended. This has been mentioned many times and the etiquette rules forbid flaming. I, and the other board directors, are always happy to receive PM's on specific issues. None of us are professionals, just trying to keep the one communication media the game has alive. Chris.

As somebody who has been known to get a bit over-excited about certain things....... :-[ ...... I have to say that it can be very easy to misread (or misunderstand) the intentions behind a post here on the Forum, which rarely happens in face to face conversation. ;) Personally, I believe that the Forum is a fantastic place for information and a great way to keep in touch with other players and I think that the Moderators and Directors do a very good job of keeping things within the limits. 8-) As users, we all have a responsibility to respect the views of other members of the Forum, regardless of whether we agree with them or not. ::) Healthy debate about our game is vital to it's future if it is to continue to be enjoyed by us all, however personal arguments should be resolved either by PM or face to face...... not on here. It is certainly a lesson that (I hope....) that I have learned. ::) ;)

Toatally agree with Hayley... once it's in Black and White..and sometimes we don't mean how it looks in the written word...
I too though admire and respect that this is a great forum and extremely well run.. thanks Sav and others...
Dave I can get excited !!! well that made you smile and Colleen... over responsive, it can happen just we all need to realise that whilst this is a brilliant and well run forum.. don't take to heart until you have maybe understood a message fully..
I admire totally how this forum is run .. maybe a box of Daz might help sometimes!!

Hi Chris,
If you require an answer sheet, it will have to be by special request, and only on selected quizzes, as it means extra work !
This is because my means of compiling and marking them are quite primitive: I have to type all the questions (usually 30) in manually, but I have a hand-written, quickly scrawled check sheet with margin notes, and score them out as they become answered and points allocated.
The operation has to be slick, otherwise I would not be able to put a fresh one up every day like I do at the moment. This is also the reason why I lock the thread once a quiz is complete, to save a 'post mortem'. But of course anyone who thinks they have been done out of points are perfectly welcome to an appeal via a PM. ;)

Yes Dave,
Your donated book will be most useful, I should get another 333 quizzes out of it. Thanks very much.
Ensures we have enough material to keep us going for the next year and a half. ;)
