Well based on Tommos thread of highs and lows, how about targets!
My targets are:
Play in county Semi-final in Cambridge Singles 2nd Round of Jersey Win all games and Team Championships Get an average score of 7,000 in league Win League Win Cambridgeshire doubles Be ranked 1st in my own version of the ranking system, I don't believe in the one on the new site. Enter all National Opens Be ranked in the top 75 in world Win this Summer League Win Under 30's Unbeaten run in Winter Highest Home and away break.
There are my targets for next season, achievable as I only just missed out on many!
So what are yours?

We've touched on this one slightly with this thread on Ambitions : barbilliards.proboards30.com/index.cgi?board=chat&action=display&thread=1803&page=1But it's a good idea to set some specific targets related to bar billiards for next season, so after a think here are mine: 1. Success for Surrey at County level. 2. Repeat this season's success with the 'Z's in the Mid-Sussex league, by whatever margin, even if it's only by 0.5pt again ! ;D 3. Keep preparing the Handcross club table until it is unarguably the best in Mid Sussex. 4. Get a few more 10k+ scores than the measly two I managed this season. 5. Qualify for the Sussex Masters once again. 6. Gain enough National RPs to stay in the top 50. 7. To see (and help if possible with) the First-ever Surrey Open getting off the ground. 8. To put as much into the game as I get out of it, and to keep on enjoying the game.

;D Just made it more specific. Nice to still have soo many ambitions after all these years of playing. Once the ambitions stop then so must you!

Once the ambitions stop then so must you! Yeah, you're right! I have no ambitions left. May as well give it all up! Is it ok to finish this season off though or should I just go?

Personally I would see a season through first, then evaluate if you enjoy it or have any ambition left.
If I had no ambition I would walk away after the Summer League, however I have loads of personal goals I still want to achieve!

Nice to still have soo many ambitions after all these years of playing. Once the ambitions stop then so must you! And there was me thinking I didn't have that many personal ambitions left ! None of the "I want to win this, I want to win that", anyway. ::) But, just as your team the White Swan means a lot to you, so does my team the Zeds: I would go through hell and high water for those guys. I will only give up once I stop enjoying it ! ;)

1) To play and do well in the premier league both Brighton and Worthing. 2) Join a team to play a third night each week, if only as a reserve. 3) To make the Sussex masters. 4) Reach the later stages of an open, personal target of quarter-finals, but real ambition of semis. 5) If falling at first round of open to win a plate final. 6) To at last lead a Worthing C team to inter-league success. 7) Average over 8000 during a league season. 8) Keep good health and continue to meet interesting/sporting people via this great game. 9) Maintain and play on a table that is best in the league for consistency and fairness. 10) Set up and move the Worthing bar billiards web site over the coming season. Getting those from the lower divisions to have some imput.

I don't enjoy the PC in that I should tap up or play a lesser game because of my opponent! If this proposal for two divisions passes I will enjoy Bar Billiards soo much. Went into the White Swan yesterday after the re-decorating. It's horrible. The bar staff hid the table brush (again) and the table was soo far out we played 1 game and left. I would enjoy it better if the pub was better and better staff. To the Floods Tavern I say ;D

Personally, I have never even asked the bar staff to set a table up. That is the team's job, in my opinion. I only ask two things from bar staff: 1. a couple of drinks during the night, and 2. a shapely figure. (even if they are female)

Agree it's not up to the bar staff, they don't normally have a clue, not that JG has suggested the bar staff should set up the table, he could not get them to find the brush for him to do the table.
It's up to the team to keep the table up to scratch, but they have to be careful as too many cooks WILL spoil the broth.

Well Sav is kind of right here. At the Floods we set up the table and the landlord gave us a spirit level and a £1 to do it. At the Swan they refused to look for the brush or get it from the bar. Contrast is in customer service, I don't ever expect the bar staff to do the table, it is our job.

Luckily, in my situation, I AM the bar staff, team captain and the one who looks after the table...but thats a one off situation methinks, and its clear in other pubs tables aren't getting the care and attention they deserve!

My new target next year is to get the Highest break prize with a score over 15K, which I only just lost out on because of my greed. ::)
I would love to consistantly get 10K at home too, if we have the table back that is :(

Thought I'd bump this one as it's interesting to see how attitudes change after a few years.
Visiting the ambitions in my posting of Jun 14, 2008..........
1. Well, runners-up in Div 2 a few times if that counts as success ! 2. Yes the Zeds are dominant again and won last season by a huge margin. 3. Gave up on it, but we bought Sav's last table and the same comments now apply to the Mill House. 4. The relative drought continues ! 5. Don't enter the right competitions to qualify any more. 6. Hanging in there and still conscious of this target. 7. Yes, we've done three now, all successful. 8. Well, the three websites must go along way towards ticking the box for this one.
The most surprising thing to note was a revival for Margo and myself in our Mixed Doubles fortunes... three titles in three years, totally unexpected and all the more enjoyable for it not having been part of the stated ambitions !
So what plans do I have left ?
9. To cut down playing over the next few years, in stages. (Reckon I peaked a couple of years ago and taking part in the Grand Prix etc was a one-off never to be repeated.) 10. To try and encourage some new players into the game.
