In the Horsham league we have this year started to play Div 1 teams with Div 2 teams as we have 14 teams in total. We still have winner & runner up in both & at the end of the season the bottom 2 from div1 are relegated & the top 2 from div 2 are promoted. So players from div 1 are still capable of scoring 5K in div 2.
It is frustrating at the AGM's when you only get 13 people including the committee turn up out of 100 plus players & the people moan about rule changes, So turn up at your agm & have your say :) Iang

I echo your sentiments about the attendance at the AGM. Ours was poorly attended this year as well.I even went although I was not a fully fledged member of the team

If you want to hear about pitfalls with handicaps or break limits, please refer to the Oxfordshire board, Eynsham 21/11 thread.

Ian I beleive it will be talked about in Febuary next year at the Cambridgeshire AGM. I think it "if passed" (which I hope doesn't) will be in place next year!

I personally think handicaps should not be allowed, if a player isn't good enough to win then thats tough, they should go out a practice more. Handicapping is ridiculous >:( In football for instance you don't see the premiership teams being handicapped when they play lower ranked teams in cup KO matches coz it would be stupid. In my opinion everyone is beatable no matter how good they are at bar billiards. Handicapping is totally unfair and should be abolished with immediate effect >:( If handicapping players was introduced in Jersey then i myself would never play the game again. Enough said!!

However we must have our difference on future on the under 25 championship :P :D ;) The under 25's championship doesn't exist in Jersey anymore. Everyone thought it was a worthless competition so its not been run since 2005 :'( They could of used it to attract new young players but once again the easy option was taken and they decided not to play it anymore. Bar Billiards will be dead in Jersey within the next 5 years or so with the way its currently goin. >:(

I used to think that!
The All-England staged an Under 25 championship yesterday. THREE players turned up!
It is all very well having events for these youngsters, but it is worthless if nobody bothers to enter.

It also helps if the youngsters know about the competition. It was poorly advertised on this forum, also I never knew about it.
I guess we need to advertise Bar Billiards for the future, this will help loads with turn outs!

It has always been up to league and county secretaries to let people know about any event.
I have entered up some of the events on the forum calendar, but personally doubted whether this one would go ahead this year as we have had difficulty in getting enough entries in the past.
It should, nevertheless, be down to an AE committee member to do this if they thought it necessary.

They did change it to under 40's last season to try and attract players over the age of 25 but there were only 7 entrants in total :-[ So this year they decided to drop it all together >:( a bit of a piss take really but if no one wants to play for it then there's nothin you can do about it lol :-[

If I didn't hear about it, I wonder how many other keen Under 25 players haven't ??? Should be a competition that should be promoted to it's full potential!
If it is back on watch out S. Sheard I am coming to get ya ;)
