Anyone know any more about Bar-Billiards Ltd selling up and offering their clients the opportunity to either buy or rent their tables??

Hi Keith,
I am not aware of Bar Billiards Ltd 'Selling Up' in total. They have, during the course of this year, been offering landlords of low income tables the chance to buy them as they stand at a reduced price.

Just had a call from one of the landlords in my league.
He has a letter saying about economics and BBLtd have flogged all their tables so rent goes up to £12 per week plus VAT or buy for £900 plus vat or they remove it. neither of the former appeals as the table is so wobbly its screwed to the wall.

Sounds as if it's beginning.
Could have prompted Keith McD's opening message in this thread. Somehow £900 plus vat doesn't sound quite such a bargain as the ball-park figure first bandied about of £800 ono.
We can now anticipate a spate of angry landlords throwing their tables out.

Sounds as if it's beginning. We can now anticipate a spate of angry landlords throwing their tables out. Brisk business on ebay expected soon.

I have spoken to Bar Billiards Ltd this morning and they are approaching all low rental sites in the same vein.
Ken Hussey is on leave until June 15th and I have asked him to contact me regarding my area on his return.
More than that I cannot tell you, but this Has the potential to pull the rug out from under many leagues.
I suggest any league officers with Bar Billiard Ltd (Ascot) tables in their leagues find out how badly their area could be affected before landlords start chucking tables out.

Perhaps we could compile our own inventory along the lines of this - admittedly a few years out of date : www.barbilliardsdd.co.uk/pubs_with_bar_billiard_tables.htmNone of the nine leagues affiliated to Sussex are likely to be affected as we have Tarratt tables, however Surrey could take a hit. Several of the tables mentioned on the list have already gone, though (i.e. Black Horse; Prince of Wales; Jolly Farmers; Midday Sun; Farmhouse).

I spoke to Ken only last week with regards to the rental or purchasing of tables, as we have a new venue in Northants. He told me that he will sell any re-furbished table for £1500 + VAT or will rent them out at £12 + VAT per week, payments to be made on a calendar month at £52 + VAT a month. I asked if he had plenty of tables available, and he said yes as we maybe be able to transfer the 4 pin Wellingborough league into the 3 pin format.

Flat rental is not popular with many landlords, especially those with low income tables, as they see it as an outgoing cost.
They can't see further than their nose that, no table, no punters paying for beer and soft drinks at enormous profits.
