Quite so, Tony. Of course, as a regular subscriber ;) I spotted this and am in the process of writing a suitably-worded response, which will give some of the history of the game as well as detailing some of the problems we face with tables being in short supply.
As our game is relatively esoteric, we might get a reporter willing to put his name to it and give us a splurge of publicity.
NB. My project shelved on the understanding that our game will get some publicity via the new In A Pub magazine (see input on relevant thread). - tommo[/color]

Well spotted, SquireRichard - bar billiards claimed to be on the 'list of things you no longer see in boozers'.
Author is obviously not visiting the right pubs ! ;D

I like the last paragraph; The list, drawn up by trade magazine The Publican’s Morning Advertiser, also included customers flicking and catching beer mats, Formica-topped tables, bar billiards, seafood salesmen — and landlords who have personality. ;D ;D

We could add to the list..........
Brown Nicotine-stained ceilings;
Pints of Brown and Mild;
Lager only being available out if bottles and in tall glasses (Tuborg, Skol, Harp)
The 'bottle and jug' retail outlet;
Bar billiards players in suits;
Line of coins booking the table and having to wait patiently over an hour to get on;
Waiting outside for opening time and being reluctantly ousted at chucking out time;
A large jukebox, cheap, easy to use, and with great music;
Finding yourself in the 'wrong' pub (walking into a rockers' haunt wearing a parka !)
Piano and someone willing to play it and start a sing-song.

Forgot to mention ------- SquireRichard got some further national publicity last weekend for his Crazy Golf pursuits. I say 'further' as he was also on a quiz show a while back (was it The Chase ?). But on neither occasion did he take the opportunity to give bar billiards a plug.

Shame all these URL's no longer exist, have not got a clue what they referred to Yes, unfortunately links to press bulletins have a limited shelf life. However, Mr Gottfried, aka Squire Richard, still maintains his excellent blog "The Ham and Eggar Files" where he has visited many of the more obscure locations for bar billiards in the UK, and the bar billiards element is well worth a look: hamandeggerfiles.blogspot.com/search/label/Bar%20Billiards
