CKRBL 3 Greyhound 2
T Stringer 3390 Neil Burchell 2880 M Coles 2180 K Newsham 3030 J Edwards 1930 P Burchell 1960 D Taylor 4770 T Rees 1400 P Edwards 3490 G Fairs 900
A fairly close match with the home side deserving winners. Jenny was very unlucky to lose by only 30, I could not get the break back, and Geoff miscued to black peg thus maintaining his 100 percent record the wrong way.
A pleasant evening had by all with 7 Greyhound players present, but they will be back to normal next week with me in sunny Spain.
We still are looking for players.

Sportsman 2 St Francis 3
Trevor Appleby 2270 Ray Fogwill 660 Pam Peacock 750 Peter Geal 1580 Gary Foster 1360 Shaun Morris 4100 Tony Driver 0 Chris Little 3600 Ros Appleby 4540 Matt Geal 1230
A very pleasant evening with lots of lively banter and the usual plentiful supply of good food :)
We are also desperately seeking another player, we only have 5 in our regular squad, we are only surviving because of our far travelling reserves.

And a good score Ros, well done Well done indeed, Ros. And its a travesty that so far you have been overlooked by Sussex Ladies 'B'. A wrong to be righted next year ?

The new mascot was brought on its first outing, and looked as if it was doing the trick, as the Z's stood at 2-1 up thanks to good comebacks by Mick and Graham in their games. But then tommo was kept off the table thanks to a steady display by Chris Kirkham, and likewise Mr Reliable Alan Downs hardly got a look in against man in form Steve King.
Hurst B 3, Handcross Z 2 Darrell Skinner 5930, Johnny Haigh 2400 John Lear 4670, MrMike007 5530 Ian Giffen 980, Graham Daniels 6820 Chris Kirkham 3840, tommo 1890 Steve King 7930, Alan Downs 2250
Great food supplied at the venue by John Lear (ably assisted by his missus) :- Fluffy bread rolls with choice of fillings (seafood cocktail; coronation chicken; chees and pickle); cherry tomatoes, cocktial sausages and sausage rolls. Worth taking a stuffing for ! It is hoped that as time progresses, so will the powers of the mascot. Watch this space !

Brewers Droops March On
Brewers Droops 3 Brewers Bravo's 2
Yes it was that close, bravo's babies giving us a real run for our money on the night.
Liam 'pot everything' Churcher 2750 Piers 'miss everything' O'Sullivan B/P Paul 'didn't get a look in' Moyes-Robb 860 Andy 'terminator' Farmer-Wright 6960 Lyn 'no luck' Moyes-Robb 920 Richard 'sir jock' Jeffrey 5140 Adam 'master' Bateup 2220 Cloin 'noddy' Humphrey 3190 Dave 'I'm not arrogant' Swinbank 4470 Graham 'sparky' Sparksman 2990
A great night and a close run affair as the bravo's chased their second win of the season unfortunately the Droops had other plans, namely extending our top of the table lead. ;D ;D Superb performance from 14 year old Liam in the opener a good solid score against substitute Piers in for an ill Mama Hall. ;D :o :'( Paul missed his break shot in the next and the Farmer happily stepped in to bring the tie level with our best performance of the night, :'( ;D ;D I took on the the better half of the Moyes-Robb clan and to be fair Lyn was very unlucky with not much going down for her :'( I steadily pulled away for the 1-2 lead. ;D ;D Master bateup stepped up next against the nodster and brought us the closest match of the tie with the nodster nipping in the last knockings to take it to 1-3. :P ;D Young Dave played a great game against sparky who in all fairness did not play badly at all, dave slipping in 2 breaks of 2k taking the match to a respectable 2-3 defeat for the bravo's, well played one and all. :'( ;D ;D ;D ;D
Great night, some good billiards and a great spread of food from Mike and Wendy again this week :D :D not to speak of the very unquiet Scotsman in the corner (who me?) giving all and sundry a roasting over every shot played, potted or missed!!!! :P :P :P Played in the best of spirits between two teams of great friends. :D :D :D
Thanks to one and all. :P

The new mascot was brought on its first outing.... Is that all the detail we get?? How about a photo? ;D Well, seeing as you asked.............. Winners only are allowed a squeeze of its foot, it then lets out a 'moo' and starts to shake uncontrollably. As a concession, the opposing captain is allowed a squeeze should they end up victorious. So last night John Lear had that honour. The idea is not original, Sheila King had one when I used to play for her team in Redhill (along with Denise and Sally) and somehow it used to bring out the best as we then gave 110%. So far it's only up to 40% strength, but we'll get there. I think it may have to stay at home the night we play Jock's team, though, as I don't want a horrible fate befalling it ! ;D

Watermill B 1 Hurst Club 4
Toby Williams 700 Roy Wells 4440 A solid opening break from the "old fella" put him in control all the way. 0-1 :-)
Gavin Boyd 1860 Andy Hall 1250 With Andy seemingly determined to break the world record for most white pegs knocked down in one game, Gavin pulled the scores to level. 1-1 :-(
Martin Range 1060 Kevin Hall 3100 A comfortable win for Kevin in the end after a reasonable start, although both players struggled at the back of the table for a while. 1-2 :-)
Paul Blackburn B/P Peter Hall 4340 Papa Hall was always in control to win the game and match for the Hurst Club. 1-3 :-)
Nigel Orme B/P David Ingram 4080 Having completely missed the opening break and then pegged my next break, I was grateful for Nigel knocking the black peg over half-way through the game. 1-4 :-)
An enjoyable evening with friendly opposition, good food (chicken, roast potatoes etc) and a decent table although both 30 pockets have interesting outward rolls!

Have just spoken to Colin from the White Horse, his reply to my question of how did you get on last night was "you wouldn't believe it......!"
White Horse 5 Windmill 0
No scores available I'm afraid though as he'd already posted the form off!

I wanna go, I wanna go i wanna go. Great idea I want to tear its mooing head off!!!!!! Ha ha Only want to rip its head off ? ::) Phew ! That's a relief. Only with your udder fixation I was afraid you'd be experimenting underneath and discover where the batteries are inserted. ;D Doesn't look like you'll be getting a go, unfortunately ..... only winning players on my side, and maybe the fat Farmer if your side happen to beat us. :P

This is all there was in the way of 'missing' write-ups this week :
Plough 4, Watermill A 1 Plough moved closer to Hurst with a game in hand following a good home win against Watermill A. Norman Cragg put the visitors into the lead but watched as Plough took the next 4 frames on the trot with wins for Malcolm Fuller, Keith Potter (5600) Mark Webber and Geoff Parsons.
White Horse 5, Windmill 0 Another win for White Horse keeps them mid-table with a whitewash against Windmill. The string of wins for the home side went to Giles Garnett, Colin Marshall, Ian Powell, Jim Quinn and Colin Mansfield.
The BB Warrior is a welcome addition to our 'reporting team'. Thought for the day : If Graham Daniels and Steve King were to join our Forum, would they be known as 'BB Daniels' and 'B.B.King' respectively ? ;D
