Jock and Andy Farmer beat Paul and Ian last night 2-0.
A seriously one sided affair with yours truly going off on one twice. Having won the toss Andy and myself elected to put Paul and Ian in first, Skippy stepped up for the opening break but left his one up too short. I cleared the two balls in two shots and slipped in a match wining break of over 6k, Andy superb in support and basic mistakes by Paul and Ian let me back in again for another 2k at the end, to finish just short of 10k in the opener. 1-0
A swift fag break and Andy elected to put yours truly in for the break in the second and I promptly won the tie with a break 30 short of 8k. Again great support play by the big man and good banter all round, with Roz, Trev, Colin, Lyn and John Lear all there scoring and supporting everyone. 2-0
I think Roz noted the actual scores so she might post em for me!!!!
Thanks to everyone for coming along, commiserations to Ian and Paul.

Here you go Jock 8-)
In the first game, your final score was 9120, in the second it was 8770.
I'll spare Ian and Paul's blushes, they didn't get much table time!

The defending champions were beaten 2-0 by Tommo & John Turner at the Sportsman tonight...... :'(
Neither pair really got to grips with the table (which seemed to take a bit of time to warm up) in the first game, although Tommo battled hard to score just under 2k with his opening break, a lead which they comfortably maintained.
We had a couple of chances to take it to a decider, but I missed a split shot chasing down a 3k+ deficit and we finished about 400 short in the end.
Well played to last years Runners Up, deserved winners on the night.
Many thanks to Ros for preparing the table, providing the match balls and scoring as well...... much appreciated! ;D

Condolences to the Warrior and Uncle Max and thanks for a competitive match tonight.
I thought you would just manage to pinch the second frame off us with that magnificent effort - no one had been bold enough to attempt the split up till then. I was commenting to my partner that, given the chance, I would have to switch to that for the decider, but it would have to be 50/20 splits which I am still learning to play properly.
It must have been agonising to pull up 800 short of the target, and the bar went soon after.
I would like to convey our thanks too to Ros. Great table, and a challenge too as you had to get the pace just right.

Dave Page & Mark Coles beat Peter Edwards and Derek Taylor 2-1 at the Hurst Club today....! :o
Dave opened up with a solid break he and Mark took the first game, with Derek losing a 3k break which was the difference in the scores.
However, Derek hit straight back with a well constructed 5k break in the 2nd game as he and Pete won in a convincing style.
Into the decider, Pete off early with only 550 scored and Shaky off at 500. Derek couldn't get the break back, but Dave did and scored a solid 3k+ break to put them in control. Pete got the balls back and was going well in reply until he took out a peg attempting a split shot. Game over.
Well done Dave & Shaky, but if Pete & Derek had kept their scores it would have been a different story.
