Watermill B 1 Greyhound 4
Tony Williams 2030 Neil Burchell 3200 Gavin Boyd 1490 Geoff Fairs 670 Martin Range 720 Paul Goodwin 930 Paul Blackburn 1330 Trevor Rees 1460 Sabina Williams 790 Peter Burchell 3360
A very strange match with nobody getting to grips with the table. The break looked easy (Geoff put it down four times!) but the rest of the table was odd, rolling outwards both sides up the middle and inconsistent elsewhere. I could not work it out but a bit of TLC is definitely required before the team cup semi final.
As usual a very sociable evening with the league newcomers a very welcome addition to our league.

Windmill 1, Handcross 'Z' 4
Anne Stockinger 780, tommo 2300 Russell Jennings 1840, Barry Timson 1910 Jan Hinkins 1170, John Turner 480 Lynne Storr 890, Graham Daniels 2110 Peter Farthing 1110, MrMike007 2150
A competitive match played on a table a shade slow and uphill - but otherwise true. A good test for the players - all of whom had their chances, although nobody on either side potted two balls off the break shot all evening. :o Game two went to the last ball (potted by Barry into the 200) and game three was even scores until JT had the black over from a side cushion shot. His lady opponent played very well indeed to thwart any attempt at a comeback.
Some very nice fresh bridge rolls filled with ingredients, margo won a tenner on the football card 8-) , all in all a pleasant evening.

Hurst Club A 3 Hurst Club B 2 ;D
Andy Hall 2880 - 4560 Darrell Skinner A steady opening game by Darrell was enough to beat a brave challenge by Andy who amazed everybody....... What Andy, no pegs knocked over this week...!! :o ;D 0-1 :(
The Old Fella 5970 - 1270 Ian Giffen An excellent opening break of 4,600 by Roy paved the way for a comfortable win, with Ian unable to get the break back. 1-1 ;D
Papa Hall 1610 - 7410 Steve King A solid start from Steve meant that Pete was always chasing the game but a couple more useful visits to the table from Steve took him out of reach. 1-2 :(
BB Warrior 2980 - 2080 John Lear Off early by missing the one up, the game became very scrappy although I was able to build up a 1k lead before hitting a patch when I couldn't pot a ball! John got the break back a couple of times to catch me up but was unable to pull away. Eventually I managed to get the break back and play out the last couple of minutes of the table to secure a win that I really didn't deserve. 2-2 ???
BB Reaper 6470 - 2280 Chris Kirkham Even early exchanges between the two gave us a tense finale until Kev put in a 2k+ break to establish the lead. Chris had a couple of chances, but it was "captain Kev" who got the balls back to knock in another 2k+ towards the end to win the game. 3-2 ;D ;D ;D
An enjoyable evening with our co-hosts, topped up by Rob Hall's usual super-sarnies.........! ;D
Honours even for this season between the two Hurst teams and, with the other results tonight, Hurst B now go top of the Premier Division and Hurst A remain just half a point behind the Droops! ;D

Great result Ros, well-deserved too from the look of the scores. That's put the cat amongst the pigeons - I've worked it out that just 2 points now separate the top four teams. :o

CKRBL were winning 2-0 at Bravos, but I didn't hear the final result from there.

With one result still to come in, the updated League Tables look like this.......
Premier Division
Pos Team Played Won Lost For Against Points
1 Hurst B 14 11 3 43 27 54 2 Greyhound 14 10 4 44 26 54 3 Plough 14 9 5 44.5 25.5 53.5 4 Handcross Z 14 9 5 43 27 52 5 CKRBL 13 7 6 38 27 45 6 Watermill A 14 6 8 36 34 42 7 St Francis 14 6 8 35 35 41
Division 1
Pos Team Played Won Lost For Against Points
1 Brewers Droops 14 12 2 43 27 65.5 2 Hurst Club A 14 10 4 43 27 65 3 Sportsman 14 5 9 31 39 43 4 White Horse 14 5 9 26 44 37 5 Watermill B 14 3 11 19 51 27 6 Windmill 14 2 12 20 50 26.5 7 Brewers Bravos 13 2 11 19.5 45.5 24.75
With just 2 points separating the top 4 teams in the Premier Division, it should be an exciting second half of the season with CKRBL still well in touch if they beat the Bravos tonight...??
In Division 1, the match next week between Droops and Hurst A could prove crucial in the race for the title, while the Bravos could move up 2 places if they won 2 games (or more) against CKRBL tonight.

A small feather in our cap to topple the league leaders, but it certainly has made the Premier battle very interesting indeed!

A very tight situation at the top of the premier but is this correct. On equal points do matches won or games won take priority, I do not have a set of rules so am not sure.

Seems like my job's been done for me this week, so cheerio Well you certainly did a good job last night, Roy. Now just one half-point covering the top three teams........... :o As Warrior and Ros said - makes for a fascinating second half of the season. 8-)

Seems like my job's been done for me this week, so cheerio Noooooooooo! :'( Come back - what about CKRBL vs Bravos? :o A very tight situation at the top of the premier but is this correct. On equal points do matches won or games won take priority, I do not have a set of rules so am not sure. According to my rules, it is matches won. Surprisingly, games won does not come into the calculation (but of course affects the points at the time, as do the matches won) In the event of equality after matches won, there is a replay at the end of the season if Championship/promotion/relegation issues are at stake.

Hey chaps
As far as I am aware CKRBL won 4-1 and still managed to grumble heavily about the Brewers table!!!
Brewers Droops 3 St Francis 2
Stole this one really!!!
Chris Little 2240 Andy FW 3020 :D :D :D A good game this with the farmer leading off on the break and electing to break left in stead of the more orthodox right break, played well chris battled hard but Andy got his nose in front and stayed there. 0-1
Shaun Morris 6460 Richard Jeffrey 0 (yes 0) :'( :'( :'( Shaun of with the break of around 2800, The tone was set for an extremely disappointing game from me when my opening shot in reply to Shauns break rolled right and ploughed the peg, Shaun promptly got the break back for another 2k+ I just could get a thing right, not a shot went where it was meant to, and after amassing a mighty 400 I managed a black peg as well, Shaun capitalized well and put me out of my misery wi a further couple of breaks of 1000 well played. 1-1
Ray Fogwin 840 Colin Humphrey 2150 :D :D :D Good match this, Col played well again electing to break left and scored well from it, Ray had a touch of the strange malady that effected my game and just couldn't get going. Colin played steadily and put us up with a good solid win. Well played. 1-2
Matt Gael 3700 Lorraine Hall 2250 :( :( :( ??? >:( Tough draw this for mama hall, Matt scoring well off his break, mum played very well to stay in touch, and she too found the top 'f*****g frustrating' (her words) although she did find the break playing the orthodox way, well done. 2-2
Peter Gael 1050 Graham Sparksman 2500 :D :D :D Tense decider in the last, Graham also electing to break left and finding it, but not consistently enough to truely dominate a struggling Peter, whom has to be said battled hard to stay in touch with Graham despite being obviously unwell, hats off the dad. Graham kept himself in front for most of the game and played well on a well known awkward top. 2-3
The term 'home advantage' certainly applies to this top, very awkward, down hill by a mile, rolling right on the right side rolling left on the left side. Nothing more to say really. And thats despite me being the only one whom couldn't get to grips with it. Still a wins a win as I'm constantly reminded. Great spread of grub, in a nice friendly environment, shame about the top tho. ??? :D

Jock, you missed the best game of the night. Chris and myself had a 'no girlie break' game. The rules are that the break may only be played right handed. I went off with 500 and Chris replied with 3 1/2 K. Got it back to less than a K with a break of over 2 1/2 k. Had 1200 on the cue when the bar dropped and victory was mine. Then Chris pointed out that I had used 2 white balls for the break when the red was still in the tray and the little s**t claimed victory. He is now buried somewhere in the hospital grounds. I would like to point out that this was not practising (not allowed in our team) but two pissed blokes having a game.

Ros. There is a reason that 'games won' is not a tie breaker. Until a few years ago one game won got you one point, so it could not be a tie breaker, and matches won was the tie breaker. Then we went to the bonus point for a match win. This is a classic case of where a rule change affects other rules, which may need to be updated. As a match victory already gets you a bonus point, I am not sure matches won should be the tie breaker. However at this moment in time it is the rule and we are bound by it. Any change must be at the A.G.M. The destination of the winners trophy does not directly concern me, however it has just occured to me that the same rule might apply to relegation issues, which does.

Thanks for clearing that up Shaun, I thought there must be a historical reason for it.
You are right that perhaps this should be debated at the next AGM. It would seem sensible to have another easy way of separating teams - it would help avoid the scramble of arranging a deciding match in between the end of the season and finals night (especially now we don't finish the season with Charity Cup games)
