Regrettably, I will be on holiday, and therefore unavailable, for the county team on 23rd September. Many thanks for my inclusion this year, I consider it a privilege to be selected to represent the county, and I hope to be available for consideration next year. I wish the team the very best of luck on the day.
BTW if someone sends me a draw sheet (before 18th Sept) I will happily do a scoring rota.

thats an interesting point put across there keith. seems as though if you dont play for a top team in your area you dont get any consideration. its good when your win your singles and have some good results in opens yet you cant even get in the county b team. something must be wrong somewhere

didn't even know the meeting was being held on thats sunday and when the countys was coming up. though last time i was the captain and was at the meeting i got told it was nothing to do with me

The reason for selection meetings is for those chosen (usually secretaries of the four leagues) to do their homework and pick those players that have been performing the best since the last County Championships but obviously this was just an oversight of the selectors to forget Colin! It is also up to them to pick the captains of each team at the meeting so I can't see how they can ask the captains to come along when they haven't even chose them!..and that's all I'm saying on the subject of "Captains :-X"
Keep the thankless work up selectors and you know that you can't please everyone....especially ME!

It is very difficult for the County meeting to do it's job when we only have a limited amount of information at our disposal. If all Associations were present with averages and data from the previous season then maybe we wouldn't have to put up with the whingeing afterwards - but I doubt it!
