With the first series approaching, just to say good luck to all teams taking part, all divisions look interesting and can see many results going to the wire. TJ

Thanks for letting me know Ian.
It is always going to be difficult with 3 teams playing out of the same venue!

Yes. In previous years I thought they played their matches on the Monday night leaving the B & C teams the Sunday night.. But it will be worth the wait as I always enjoy the evening when I go to The Old Oak. ;D ;D Ian.

We would always rather play on Sundays, but have been known to play on a Monday to accomodate Brighton in the past. But last year someone other than us seemed to have first refusal on the Old Oak - due to any 'home' players being in the 'B' or 'C', I suppose. We had one long-outstanding postponement with Littlehampton, and finished up entertaining Horsham on a Sunday lunchtime at the Flying Scud. :o :o :o I agree with Dave Jones - we are not helping ourselves by having 'A' 'B' and 'C' all sharing the same home venue.

Brighton would prefer to play Sundays also, we used to play on Mondays for home games due to the quiz in the pub on a Sunday night. Three from one pub sounds difficult to sort. Good luck

(played at the Old Oak, Sun 14th October)
Redhill A 6, Tunbridge Wells 1
Colin Robbins 7610, Martin Russell 2280 Paul Reece 3620, Neale Chamberlain 1490 Clive Thompson 5620, Doug Phillips 1110 Geoff Jukes 9690, Ian Wright 500 Laurie Roberts 4640, Pete Sainsbury 3280 Gary Powell 5380, Martin Leach 3740 Dave Constable 3450, Vinny Mitchell 4570
Table played difficult tonight, and no luck seemed to go the way of the Tunbridge Wells players, who had their chances in all games. Vinny performed heroicly to prevent a whitewash, despite being on the receiving end of much barracking (from his own teammates). Thanks to them for a good evening played in a very sporting atmosphere. We look forward to the visit after Christmas to the Imperial when you will no doubt strive to get your own back. ;)

Lucky old Worthing C managed to pull a 4 - 3 out of the hat against Lewes at the Windmill. With a small amount of luck and the run of the balls it would have been 4 - 0 to Lewes, as it was Dave Todd gave Dave Jones the break back twice by pegging and leaving the ball obn the spot. The second of these was just as the bar went and Dave J took advantage to spawn a win.
* G.Sherratt 4120 5710 M.Chipman G.Cornfield 2120 4220 *R.Bithell D.Jones 4790 4610 *D.Todd * C.Cooper 2460 3480 D.Knight S.Aylmore 3410 2470 *D.Taylor A.Jenner 5420 2680 *J.Bithell *R.Cunningham 5020 2580 R.Todd
4 3
Excellent evening good friendly banter , although the bar billiards did no justice to the table.

Brighton A 4 - 3 Worthing A
A good night of Bar Billiards, Brighton could have been 4 nil down but managed to hold their break games. Chris Reeves won against the break to level the game at 3 all. Chris Tupper had the break in the seventh against Neil Higgins. Tupper time !! Chris won the match on his second visit to the table.
Scores sent to Dave Jones on email

An excellent win for the Brighton B side against Littlehampton last night.
Game 1 saw Colin Green struggle a bit to start but then kill the game off half way through against Paul Olver. I played next but got to the table 7k down against an excellent Eric Hampton. Caroline and Hayley played an nervous game with Hayley winning 1-2 to the visitors. Alan B was unstoppable knocking in 14k over two breaks. The next game turned the match with Alan Messer building a 7k Lead. Terry Coghlan then played the table out with 8k to put the home side in front. Bella too played an excellent game touching up near the end to put the game out of reach for Steve Beach. Jean then wrapped up the last game with a couple of nice breaks to score 7k.
Brighton B 5-2 Littlehampton.

How the heck did we lose that one ??? ::) ???
What should have been a great start for a new look Worthing `A` side ended up in defeat.
game 1 - Mario off very early, Mal with an early chance to sneak a 2k lead. Steve gets the balls back, comes off again about 2k up, then Mals turn to get them back, gets to about 4k and thanks to a very prominent right hand roll all over, takes the right hand peg out after playing a seemingly soft shot up the left hand side of the black to hit one on the back cushion. 1 - 0.............. 5620 - 3110
game 2 - Barry opened with a good 8k break against Dave Reeves and on his next visit finished the table off with another 10k. 1 - 1.............. 150 - 19160
game 3 - After winning the Worthing Off The Spot competition earlier in the day, Ian Lelliott then took the break in the third, i did have my reservations as to whether he would still be on "cloud 9", but took the chance anyway. My fears were founded when he came off very early. Rick however, never scored and Ian retrieved the balls, only to come off again shortly after (perhaps he should have switched to off the spot) :P Ian had a third chance soon after and killed the game finally 1 - 2 ..................... 1450 - 10160
game 4 - Richard took the Home sides` next break, but he to broke down under 2k giving in form Martin Smith an early chance. Martin retrieved the balls and made a steady 6750. Another 1000 and he would probably have been home and dry but the Brighton skipper chased him down to win by just over a thousand 2 - 2.................... 8470 - 6750
game 5 - I was waiting to see where Richard would try to pinch one of our break games and it came in the 5th, where he put Nigel against the break. This has always been one of my favourite tops since i moved down and was quite happy to take him on. I opened with 13k (knowing 12 could possibly be caught on the 20 minute table), Nigel failed to score and i finished off with another 8k. 2 - 3..................... 200 - 21520
game 6 - Brighton obviously had to take the next, so Feedthegoat took the stage against Roger Taylor. Unfortunately for us, Roger was off early and Chris took full advantage. Not sure of his break though. 3 - 3..................... 13610 - 3760
game - 7 Tupper time as they say. Tupps opened with about 3k giving Neil Higgins a squeak but after he got the balls back, played a tentative split and soon came off. Tupps then made another 4k and although Neill seemed to find the table at his next go, it was too late 4 - 3 ...................... 8450 - 5240
Should definitely have been 3-4 or 2-5 so a wasted opportunity for the Worthing boys :(
:D :D :D :D :D :D Well done to my Hunny for winning her first ever Inter League game last night at the Albion :-* :)

What a heartbreaking result.....I knew how it had turned out as Jukesy got a text from Mal saying simply "we lost" - but didn't know the full circumstances.
Some fantastic scores on an excellent table. Well done Brighton, and hard luck Worthing - but on that sort of form you ain't gonna lose many games this season. ;)

Worthing 'D' 2 - 5 Brighton 'C' Another new look Worthing side played its first game. Had to play our very last reserve as two pulled out.
Game 1. Adam Squire played his first full inter league game and looked at home, especially on his old home table. Steady start and won the game against Colin Honeysett, 2610 - 1160. 1 - 0
Game 2. Gary Iles another player playing his first inter league game started well. Chris Elliott, his opponent fount the table hard at first and pegged his opening break. Gary scored steadily while Chris couldn't put anything together. Chris finally got the break back and played the bar out with a 5K+ break to win the game 2360 - 5180. 1 - 1
Game 3. A third player making his inter league debut Chris Cox found things a bit hard going against Chris Pemberton. Chris C. scored but couldn't keep them. Chris P. running out 1740 - 3690 winner. 1 - 2
Game 4. Worthing D needed to get a game back. So Bob Thomas went on and found the table very much to his liking scoring 6570 - 1290. 2 - 2
Game 5. Had to play my super sub in Anna Iles. She played well but up against the experience of Sheena Wood she went down 1610 - 2420. 2 - 3
Game 6. This turned out to be the farce of the night. I put myself on against Brian Muggridge. Whenever we play both of us either play awful and hardly score or we both keep losing our score. This time it seemed a bit of both. Brian lost his 2K+ opening break. I missed a sitter over the pocket. The game then descended into its usual farce. Brian lost another break. I couldn't score more than a couple of hundred. Final score 630 - 1170. 2 - 4.
Game 7. This game saw two old warriors play each in Mark Senior and Micky Pope. Both players kept the scoreboard ticking over but Micky got the break back just before the end and run out 2430 - 2770 winner. 2 - 5.
A match that could have really gone either way. Plenty of banter and good food. We will get our own back over there. ;D ;D ;D

Good start for Adam in his first interleague for Worthing D and sure the other new faces will settle down with the first nervy game under their belt, good luck for the rest of the season.
